Well, I've been building an engine in my spare time for a few months now, and about 2 weeks ago the clutch died, so i decided to finish the engine. thats where it started, then i got slightly carried away Engine is a stock 6 bolt bottom end .040 over, and decked .012. arp rod bolts, bs eliminator.. nothing real special. The head is one of the nicest i've done, since its mine, i was able to try some new things, i've got about 8 to 10 hours into this thing.. its bad ass! 1mm ferrea valves.. my own spring combo using a pac spring, ferrea Ti retainers, and ferrea spring seats.. also head was cut .013. I wanted to make nice crank case evac system, but i wasnt happy with anything i came up with on the cover, so i decided to vent out of the crank case directly.. i'll also be using the factory vents for the pcv system from the cover. baffle is just mocked up.. yes it looks terrible now, but itll shape up got the manifold/ turbine and O2 housings ceramic coated Moved the battery to the trunk to free up some space. I'm going to buid a methonal tank the size of a battery, and use the oem bat. mounting stuff to hold to tank. Also doing an abs delete, new shifter bushing, SMIC, Tial bov, hawver intake, custom profiled cams, fidenza cam gears and clutch, custom meth injection (direct port with injectors) and more.. should be a fun DD.. hope you like it

I'm interested in some more info on the crankcase evac system. I hate the idea of any part of that baffle coming loose, isn't welding to cast a no-no? I'm not to familiar with welding to cast, what's the process for an application like this? Seems like a nice list of goodies, but I think I misread the title, this is a DD? You sill have the pistons/rods/arp's of mine there, I forgot all about them?

yeah, I still have those pistons, i forgot about em also, i think i just have to balance them. I wont be welding the baffle in, it will be bolted in... welding to cast is ok for fixing a crack, but in most instances is not the best idea. alot of stuff for a dd, but itll be fun!

isn't welding to cast a no-no? Not nessacerily. Cast steel (like our exhaust manfolds) welds nice. Cast aluminum welds nice too. Cast iron sucks balls. It more-so depends on the material composition, not how the material was formed.

yeah, I've done a few exhaust manifolds, and plenty of aluminum, but never an engine block. Thanks for the info guys, just seemed odd to me.

What kind of results are you expecting to see from the OS valves, and heavy port work when used with a 16g? Plans to go bigger in the future?

hey guys, figured i'd give you some updates.. more pictures of the baffle.. under the baffle baffle bolted in place, and yes the weld look horrible.. i was having some trouble with it, but none the less its done. new oil feed line the way it sits as of now.. next on the list is to put the oil filter housing on, thermostat, and little odd and ends, then i'm waiting for some cash so i can but cams, and cam gears.. just got my shifter cable, and base bushing in today, probably put those in soon also.. i'll keep the updates coming..

AJ, sorry man didnt see your post till now. while dealing with some turbo stuff before, I've learned that the turbo is obviously your biggest restriction, but u'll still see gains by making the system more efficient as a whole.. like for instance one engine that flow 40#s of air could make 380hp, and another with the same airflow can make 420hp.. here are some updated pis.. its comin along.. waiting on a clutch then i can put the engine back in and starting making my ic plumibing and what not. also I've decided to ditch the meth injection, and do an air to water setup instead.

cop huh? If you'd like me to whip one up LMK, otherwise I do have just plates too, they're laser cut, and powdercoated black. Would match your valvecover perfectly Not sure what you have planned, just throwing it out there.
