A buddy of mine is on his way to california to pick up a nice cnc machine. Very tight tolerances and a high rpm spindle speed means he can make a lot of parts. He will be making parts out of his garage so overhead is very low.
One-off parts are never cheap but he shouldnt have a problem beating places around here. Is there any other dsm parts that arent being cnc'ed overseas in bulk?

where do we start with the list of stuff... Right here I guess. He should be back with the machine on thursday or friday, a little bit for shipping on a phase converter...etc and running parts end of next week hopefully.

I guess the question would be is he going to do anything from an EGR blockoff plate to a shifter knob or is he gonna concentrate on larger items?

He will do anything really, im assuming someone in china made 5 million blockoff plates already and someone is selling them dirt cheap and would be hard for him to make a few bucks on. But you guys tell me, if theres stuff out there that seems too expensive let me know and Ill have him check.

that battery mount is totally doable for cheaper. Just would need the dimensions.

Edwin, that is a 1g kit, I have been thinking about designing one up in cad and having it made by Matt's friend. The hardest part would be the tabs that would need to be bent and any welding that would need to be done.

Nah we just would need some good dimensions, and maybe someone to buy 20 of these new ones to sell He can weld anything also, just missing a welder at the moment, hopefully he can buy one soon enough.

Well concerning any of the welding that needs to be done I think I can help you out there. I'm up at Ferris in the Welding Engineering Technology program finishing my second year right now. I've had my fair share of experience and could definately help out. Depending on how busy summer is I could probably throw some things on the plasma burner. Anything for VERY tight tolerances would need to wait for next year when I can throw them on our laser. But anything basic, such as that block off plate could be made in a snap on the plasma table and just clean it up by hand. So if there is anything I can help with let me know and I'll see what I can do.

How about COP plates? That would be simple and I'd be willing to buy a set if the price is right.
