So this started happening JUST BEFORE i put on my HKS SSQV. That is the only mod i have on the entire car. So here's the problem... Pretty much every time I floor my car, it goes, but kinda lags for a half second, then it goes again, lags again, goes again...u get the idea. When I have it half throttle, it happens rarely and not as bad. I have oil coming from the spark plug area and valve cover gasket is leaking a little bit too. I'm not very tech smart when it comes to turbo cars so MUCH help would be appreciated! I deliver pizzas for a living so i need my car. Thanks for your time

I'd say check for boost leaks ( torn dried couplers, broken or loose clamps or even unplugged vacuum lines).

sounds pretty close to the same problem i'm having, i have done a boost leak test and it was good i have it narrowed down to a fuel problem i think...

How old are your plugs/wires?

Id imagin a fuel issue to be a little more common rather than just at wot. I also agree with missesnesbit. Your plugs or wire could have some age behind them and be going making them arch or blowout under wot.

Tom just put in new plugs, and swapped to cop last week. The issue is still present, so it shouldn't be anything with the ignition really.

well this is what makes it more confusing... after driving it around a little more, it kinda feels like something in the transmission is slipping or im misfiring. it doesn't do it when its cold either, but once it warms up, it starts doing the studder. keep in mind that it really feels like something in the transmission is slipping. thanks again for taking the time to read this post!

I do own a 96...maybe ill check that out. The boost seems to be higher than normal since i put on the SSQV and seems like it wants to pick up speed faster, but it wont due to that damn studder. Another detail i can add i just noticed... When i first start the car and rev it...at about 4500 - 5000 rpm it misfires for a second. But after a few revs, it goes away. Driving however still is affected. Nothing on the dash lights up and my check engine light DOES work lol. Yeah, I know, a stock 96 TSI with NO dummy lights illuminated! lol. I havent had time to get the car in the shop or look at it myself between my newborn son, work, xmas, anniversary, birthday....oh and its my birthday today lol. Alright well thanks again guys for helping me out. I'll try to get the coil packs looked at to see if they're arcing.
