i already know that you can't run HKS 272's on a stock head, how well does the HKS 272-264 combo work on a 1g with a stock head. i'm concidering cams for the autoX car and don't want to get into springs, valves etc.. just yet, i only run 22 lbs of boost so i don't need anything too crazy. how's the idle? what other cams are comparable to this set up? any info is appreciated. anyone running these?

LOL Dan. But hes right. You CAN use 272's on both the Intake and Exhaust side. I am currently doing it just fine. Stock head, Springs, Valves, and block. I have HKS 272's with adjustable cam gears(zero'd out) and if i could get my ECU to control my idle, they would idle great. But its not the cams fault. I must say that it can be a little bit jirky around town if i'm not in it all the time. It does really like the lower RPM's sometimes. but it could just be something else wrong. Either way, who ever told you that you cant run 272's is wrong. but your idea of 264 on the intake side would in theory be better for AutoX.. Am i right guys? because a 272 setup is more for top end power.

i was told awhile ago by someone i can't recall that you need valves etc.. and cam gears to run 272's. so i can run them on a stock head, what about on stock cam gears? anyone running cams other that HKS? Crower? FP2?

Crower? FP2? The new crowers are supposed to be drop in cams and are a great value. I would look into those and try to find a place that has them in stock.

how is the idle on the 264-272 combo versus others. don't get me wrong i love the sound of a very lumpy idle, it just won't be practical for this car.

Unfortunately I don't have it anymore. My dad MADE me take the car to the junkyard last weekend when we were cleaning the barns out. I told him that I had someone comming to get the tank, but he was pissed at me for something and forced me to take it right then.
Have you tried U wrench it in holland for one?

sooo can i run 272's with stock cam gears? They are designed to be installed straight up, however if you have had your head decked then the geometry has changed and you will need adjustable cam gears.
