Wiseco pistons 8.5:1 .20 over Eagle rods w/ 21mm pin
Thats what I'm putting in my 6-bolt over the winter. ;D Now my head is a different story. It's going to be much more expensive and complicated.

I think it all depends upon what turbo setup you are running and how much whp you are going for
1g big rods with stock 2g pistons is a very decent setup, plus you dont have to deal with forged pistons.
However, if you are planning on going all out, the above setup is one of the best out there.
I have some parts lying around you might be interested in, PM me, I bascially have an entire 6bolt short block almost ready to go...

A 1g/2g combo is a very nice and reliable setup. Road race engineering preaches this to any avid roadcourser because of its factory reliability. It has also been proven to hold around 580whp. (Stock 1g motor has been pushed out to 560whp). Internals are up to you and your goals. Not everyone will be able to make the power that I talked about earlier because that requires super fine tuning and is pushing the motor to the edge. A very good combo is to not waste money on rods like some people and just toss Ross pistons on the stock 1g rods. (Buschur has been doing this for 10+ years and has had many many motors past 600whp with stock rods). 1 option for the stock rods would be to get them pollished to take away any surface defects and prevent cracks that could cause failure.

A very good combo is to not waste money on rods like some people If you could get brand new Eagle rods all day long for less than $250 a set, would you do it? I think as long as the deal is right, it would be a good piece of mind to know you have a set of brand new h-beams instead of 15 year old rods spinning the crank at 8K. But if I were on a strict budget, I would otherwise use the 1G big rods. 1 option for the stock rods would be to get them pollished to take away any surface defects and prevent cracks that could cause failure. And how much does that run?

well at 250 a set that is a good deal. Where did you find that?
I wouldn't polish my rods though just because I know what they can handle. I don't really think age is a big deal for us. Buschur has pushed the rods past the 600whp mark on quite a few cars and its held.

Im gonna do a 6-bolt build this winter, and if you can get all kinds of goodies for cheap that would be sweet. I was just gonna go with 1g/2g combo, but if you have better for a good price let me know!

Last I checked they were cast them being forged is the reason people use them in a 1g/2g combo. The extra compression is a bonus. Mitsu fucked up with our cars and never put all the good things in one.
