oh your race on the way home went well. We got followed by what I think was the zzp cobalt who only wanted to race from a 70 roll. I got him down to 60, jumped him, put a car, and then by 100 he was pulling right past. I looked on zzp's website and it has a bw256 (bulky 50trim) and runs a 12.2 at 117mph. I was pretty impressed with how well Brandy's car did but god we need an intercooler.

Haha, nice. I wish I would have been driving back with you. Would have been a perfect chance to race something in my time bracket.
Ya, I forgot to mention I went out with all the honda guys before I left the lot for the second time. That was intresting to say the least. lol We went west on 196 and some of the other guys raced, then after they had there fun I pulled up next to a few of them. what a slaughter, I dont think a single one had any power, or I was only running the slow ones or something. I was letting them have the hit then going and blowing right by them. lol I'll stick to running the big boys and there boosted V-8s.
I'm pretty stoked to get on the track. I wouldnt mind another 11 sec run, but i really just wanna see that 120mph run. I think we are getting close to that goal.

Dang.. May 31st? Really. Its been a long ass time since I updated this. And A LOT has happened. First, the only time I got to the track my runs were plagued with a slipping clutch. So I never had a clean pass all summer. We attributed the slipping clutch to the stock transmission line still installed, as well as that restriction. So after a nights work, we had it replaced and the car seemed to shift very well, and very crisp. Maybe a little too fast/crisp, because in preparation for the pinks event, I managed to screw up 3rd gear. You can put it in gear, and it will even stay.. but the second you hit the gas.. it sounds like a machine gun. At that point I was tired of the car, and it got garaged for the rest of the summer/year. I just didnt have the funds to fix it, and I didnt wanna bandaid fix it like I had done with my motor. Fast forward to today, and progress has finally been made. Thanks to TJ and a few other people, I acquired a TRE rebuilt trans for my car. It was Lafonds old 2g trans that has roughly 10k-12k miles on it. I'm under the assumption that its a stage 1 build, with some of Jon's local special tricks and upgrades. As well as a taller 5th, new OEM TOB, new clutch fork, new pivot ball, and a few other mods. The plan is to bring both my old broken trans, and this TRE trans down to Jon, and have him use what he needs to make it fit my 98. And then I'm still going to have to talk to him about center diff options, clutch options, and a few other things. And this is if hes even willing to do the work. I'm going to be drafting an email in the coming weeks. I have poured what seems like a lot of money into this project over the last few years, and this coming summer I really wanna enjoy all the time and money spent. So my plan is to fix some of the issues. 1. Replace Transmission and possibly clutch 2. Degree Cams correctly 3. Work on IAC/intake setup 4. Tune, Tune, Tune 5. Clean up headlights 6. Work on exterior flaws and clean up issues. 7. Be able to drive to the buschur event this year. 8. Get the car back to a daily drivable car, and enjoy driving it as much as possible. And still be around consistent 11's and/or 120mph pass. I'm sure there's some other things I'm going to do that i don't have listed, but I just want to be able to drive my car, and have it be fun again. It was really a wasted summer because of broken parts.

For sure, Its exactly what I had planned on doing to mine anyway, so buying it used should end up saving me some money. Plus this way I can still use my tranny as a core, or even sell it broken. And there seems to be a shortage of late 2g trannys anyways. So I'm happy about the entire deal. At least thats the plan, But I'm pretty sure a clutch upgrade is needed as well, so the extra money I saved from the trans is going to allow me to do that.

Nice, good to hear. Hell, I was wondering if you still had it, it's been so long, lol. I'm pretty sure Im gonna have either tranny or clutch issues on my 2010 setup so I'll be right behind you bringing mine down there, lol.

Well, here we are again, Good old winter. lol The car is tucked away in the garage with its cover on, and I cant wait to get it out in the spring time. Ive been going over a lot of things I "want" to do with the car, but how much money I can afford to spend is another question. Over last year I got a few things done, Including installing the TRE transmission, ACT 2600 with full face disk, new OEM TOB, and other random things here and there. I also finally cleaned up my headlights with the 3m Restoration kit, and installed some DDM tuning digital HID's. All taped up and ready to go. Here was the staining from the E85 leak I had a few weeks before that. After the first sand paper grit After the second sand paper After the 3rd sand paper and finally after the rubbing compound and polishing pad. Over all I was very impressed with the quality of the lights after I used that kit. So then after that I installed the HID's Heres a side by side of my HID and a silver star headlight. HID on the left. And here is the other toy I picked up over the summer. Its a BEP HX35, and it needs a good rebuild, but after that I hope to get it installed on the talon. So basiclly my goals/projects for 2011 are as follows. 1. Replace bad ball joints 2. Replace motor mounts 3. Find source of Ignition issue 4. Install HX35 and exhaust pipes with external wastegate 5. Re-tune everything! 6. Install or figure out IAC issues and clean up driveablity 7. Run consistent 11's at the track, and enjoy my summer just driving the wheels off the car. Depending on if we learn more about my breakup issue, I may also be looking at getting some new valve springs and retainers. I'm either going to find a good set of Evo springs, or just buy some new ones.

Nice update. I was beginning to wonder if you still the car . haha, yes I still have the car. :-) Not as much gets done to it every year, so there isnt much in the way of updates. A lot of small things I need to do this year, and hopefully it all adds up. If I won the lotto I would really love to get some better rims and maybe some sticky tires, but I don't think I can afford either. Shes getting pretty old so I need to keep up on some maintenance type stuff.

Well, spring is here.. and another direction has been decided on. After looking at the goals of this car, and the budget.. I was still going to have the hx35 rebuilt and installed. That was right until I figured out my 18g was shot. Its been buring some oil and I have been spinning the guts out of it for 3 years now.. and it finally died. I noticed a strange noise after you let out of a pull, and it was the impeller hitting the housing. lol go figure. So not wanting the car down for very long, TJ and I started searching for a quicker alternative to having the HX35 rebuilt, and that was a little more "bolt in" friendly. TJ ended up finding a slightly used (around 1500 miles) Borg Warner S256 Extended Tip turbo setup on DSMtuners for 980 plus shipping. Included in the sale was Turbonetics evolution wastegate. Turbonetics t3 manifold Bullseye power stainless steel turbine housing Extremepsi oil return line Extremepsi oil feed line Custom 02 housing from 5 bolt to 2 bolt. Extended tip S256 turbo. Bosch 02 sensor custom dumptube Overall I think we got a great deal, and this turbo should work great on this car. Because the car still has a stock block, I dont think we will see the full potential of the turbo. Which is fine because I'm in no place to be rebuilding the motor again. Because we bought it as a setup, I should be able to sell a few of my current components like the FP manifold, PR mild steel o2 housing, rebuildable 18g, and rebuildable hx35 with BEP housing together or separate. I think after thats all sold I will be very happy with the amount spend. So bye bye hx35 and hello s256

I figured the 18g would be the hardest to sell, its had its compressor cover modified, and it will need a good rebuild. I'll get you some pictures once its off, and if you still want it we can talk it over. What project is that for?
