well i guess my stock intake manifold has a large flat spot on top with a map sensor on it. ( i know its not a map exactly but you know what i mean.)

Right. I'm pretty sure it's an evo IM. The 2nd gens do have a flat spot on top and a spot for MDP sensor (for the turbo models). And the 1g had the same thing located elsewhere on the IM. This has no spot for the MDP sensor, which is for Evap. This doesn't have it, which makes me think it's from an evo.

now that i actually took a good look at it it most definitely appears to be an evo III im. no real gains from it that i'd heard however.

From what I've heard, it only helps with ported heads. I bought the car with this, so I'm just gonna leave it be.

I wonder if the whole motor is evo3? I dont see any other reason why you would want to swap out the intake manifold.

A quick update. It's running....just running. It got 24mpg last time I filled up. I tried to put my megan afpr on, but the lines are all different sizes and the adapter for the fuel rail is wrong. So, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with that. I need to get that on before I put in my 255 lph fuel pump. I'd imagine I have a boost leak because I can't seem to get my wastegate to open. I hope it isn't a bad wastegate because that would suck. I plan on taking it to the track the 15th to see if she'll hold together, hope to see some of you all there.

Quick update. Waste gate is fine. And fuel system if fine. It ran like a champ for a couple weeks. It was getting about 20-21mpg, which, considering the driver and the car, it should be a lot more. It ran until I spun a bearing. If you have been keeping up with other threads, I'm putting in a whole set of crank, bearings, wristpins, rods and pistons from Paul. Right now the whole thing is torn to pieces. Head is here, block is there. One piston is at my house, while the other 3 are at my uncle's. After this rebuild, hopefully it'll last for awhile.

Quick and probably unnecessary update: I had the engine in the car and everything hooked up. Put in fluids and it pissed radiator fluid everywhere. So, I've got the head off and am going to get it machined (which it looks like it's already been machined to hell) or try a thicker head gasket.

Alright guys, I really need your help. I've got it all together, and was going to turn it over to get some oil flowing, and nothing happens. I turn the key and turning over, no click, nothing. the battery isn't bad because the lights turn on, but my radio doesn't turn on, and neither does my windsheild wipers. I kinda suspect the starter, but it was working before everything came apart. Maybe I wired the starter wrong? I can't imagine this as it's only a positive ground and switch. Anyone wanna verify for me which goes where, and a decent way to try if it is working without taking it out of the car?
