I just need to get my cylinders honed and have the top of the block resurfaced for the head to go on. Any help would be appreciated.

A&J Automotive Machine in Sturgis, Mich. (269) 651-4594 Scott down there is the fucking man! Plus he can get his hands on a torque plate for 4g63 motors.

How much does he charge to say bore a block and hone it with a tq plate? Hell Millwoods got a TQ plate but they want $75 extra to use it and dave is a fucking prick who knows less about 4g63's then me

What you think the use of a torque plate should be free? Millwood might be better off for you.

Brandon - Let me know how it all goes with A&J (you know I'm in the market too).
PS - Dont forget to pull the dowel pin out of your other crank and put it in the one I gave you. You'll need it to align the flywheel.

Angelo, Yea everything was great. I would really recommend Scott down at A&J to anyone. They are kind of pricey on some stuff, mostly little things, but man is the service top notch. I ended up stopping the project in the beginning because of time and money essentially. However, if no one buys my stuff I'll probably build it up this winter for the hell of it if the bank account allows it. And I will be taking it back there to have the rest of the machining done. What I really like was this: From the minute I walked in the door I was treated as an equal. That and he sat down with me and wrote up the steps needed to be taken and let me make decisions on certain things they could do. He explained everything in detail, showed me around the shop showing me other projects they were working on, and were just all around very friendly. And they had a torque plate Two thumbs up from me

Austin Jordan engine on Clyde Park and 44th st in Wyoming, MI
they do GREAT work, but I really dont care for most of their guys, but Jason is good so is Bill (I think he is the owner)
good cost and a good job in MACHINING, have never had them do any assembly for me but I hear they are good at that too

I'm not gonna bash shops directly, but let's put it this way. The ONLY machine shop in GR area that I would bring a 4G63 or 4G64 block to is Performance Engineering in Jenison. They are kind of expensive, but after going through as many crappy ass machine shops that I have tried it's worth the extra money. I don't care if places offer you a warranty because places will think of the dumbest reasons to blame you for something that is not possible. Warranties from machine shops are all BS. I don't care if you find a shop that has done motors for 50 years. If they have never done a DSM motor do not let them. Your asking for it.
