I know this thread is extremely old but I was wondering if you ever got it finished. The idea is very appealing to me.

could always do the 1gb conversion, its not that hard, but this would be much more unique, have you gotten any work time on it?

well since you guys decided to dig this up, i did have a couple cool ideas i had thought about on my 90 if anybody wants to do them. these can be on there own or done together but... i always wanted to get a projector foglight or headlight unit and drill out the back side lense with a hole saw in the front lense (where the headlight shines through if you leave the headlights down) and flush mount the light in there wired with a 100w bulb kinda 300zx-ish. also my buddy shaved and filled together the pop-up lids on his 91 with the hood for a one piece setup. very sutble but sweet. then he just used some sheet metal and strapping to mount the stock sealed beam headlights same as were they would be if you just had the popups turned off. (minus the pop-up hardware of course). i can try and find a pic of it if anyone is interested

I always wanted to build a setup with 4( 2 on each side) round projector piaa style round lights. I thought it would be cool if when the lights were turned on the lids would pop up just high enough for the lights to clear and then have them slide forward a few inches forward. Then to have them turn off, retract and pop down. I'm just not very familiar with limit switches and worm gears to make it all happen. I would like to give it a try if anybody is interested.

limit switches and gearing is simple, the actual reliability is the downfall if this is driven in any sort of ill weather without the proper precautions. i think the popup is easy to limit, the limiting of the popout would be the other painful side; along with the fact that piaa lights can be pricy, as well as the cost of the other materials. but i'm down to try this crazy shit if someone's putting up the ducats for the parts. any takers?
