well as many of you may know,i picked up the delightful little hackjob darth vader from dan (formerly atomicarmy). it's been passed around about as much as shehan's oreo laser. my entire plan with this one is do to more with less. here's a basic mod list as of now -bs elim and half bottom end rebuild, arp head studs -spec stage 2 clutch -2g maf w/ apexi power intake -ported 2g mani -ported 7cm s16g -evo VIII 560s -eprom ecu w/ tmo chip -hardwired 190 -safc II -boost, egt, volt, water temp, oil press, and a/f gauges -3" exhaust -mbc -i'm suspecting the s16g is toast so after investigating that, if need be i'll go with a little special budget 14b setup i have in mind probably -custom ic piping on stock sidemount -fp intake - normal, stock, blue hood-fix various leaks. and of course, get the thing running again properly -chop up the ghetto ass exhaust it has on it and make it a true 3" straightpipe turboback and put on some rre stock tips -o2 dump -tint -replace cut front/stock rear springs with some sprints -lots of tlc, paint, and cleanup -some sort of better wheel and tire setup i'm not planning on touching the car til next spring when it warms back up but a lot's gonna happen when it does. i'll be back blowing smoke everywhere soon enough

quick little update: -s16g is fine. supposedly the oil return line is partially stripped at the pan instead -i'm probably gonna have to pull the trans because at a minimum the throwout bearing needs to be replaced and the axle seals need to be done. -stopped by my buddies place up in tc and grabbed a seabass hood from his dsm salvage yard and threw that on. also scored a couple more matching gauges and our uber rare corner door gauge pod. -and... i helped the kid that bought my galant get it to fire up so in return, he cut the now no longer available, rre tips off the exhaust and gave em to me. shwing!

yes sir. a little custom job a friend of ours did a few years back. you know that little black triangle piece on the inside above the door panel that hides the access screws for the mirror. yep, a cool little 2&1/16 molded fiberglassed gauge pod angled perfectly. i kinda like it

i just had to update this right away. i finally got the whole title situation straightened out as of last night so the car will be going under the knife right at the beginning of the year. if it doesnt workout well with this chassis i've got another 92 shell lined up to swap everything onto if need be. i'll try and get some before pics this weekend of everything.

Not bad, not bad at all. Looks like you have your work cut out for you though. What color do you plan to paint it? The plate should say DETHSTR instead of HACKJOB. ;D

Hey Brent I have a 90 fwd non-turbo laser with a pretty much perfect exterior (parts car) if you can think of anything you might want from it let me know - I also have a spare 14b but it needs a new housing. Looks like you have a fun 6 months ahead of you - good luck!

6 months my ass. i'm planning to hopefully atleast be able to drive it back down to kalamazoo in a couple weekend's time some time next month. then it will sit under a cover in my carport for a couple months til spring when i really start throwing money at it to make it acceptable. and dont let the pics fool you. its very saveable but in its current state very much a pos needs tlc just about everywhere.

come to find out only the upper left bolt was holding the transmission on and only three of the t-case bolts were there. also the drivers side axle carrier bearing was shimmed an extra 1/3 of an inch out from the block using big nuts. and the oil return line was rtved on at the pan. this all added up to the transmission twisting around and grinding and jamming the end of the starter and the inside of the bellhousing. amazingly there doesnt appear to be any damage done to the transmission other than a fubared axle seal. i'm still gonna see about maybe taking the trans over to tre and have it checked over just to be on the safe side. the throwout bearing and clutch took all the abuse so i'll be looking for a new clutch as of now. on a good note, i got the engine bay all stripped and cleaned up, and all the parts from above installed along with fixing the oil pan situation
