Ever since the pumpkin died, I have been looking for something to take its place. I have had many AWD DSM's, and wanted a change, something more rare. I have always wanted a GGSX, or a GVR4, but they are hard to find in my price range. The only other "rare" DSM (if you can even call it that) that I've always had my eye on is an '89 Colt GT Turbo.
Well after saving up my pennies, and riding a bike to work for a couple months it was posted for sale. A 1989 Dodge Colt GT Turbo on xceedspeed for $1900! I knew it HAD to be mine. I PM'd the seller for a phone number, and contacted the owner about it. Turns out he has about 10 other cars, and this one has been in storage for 6 years. He told me about his drag car (old trans am), and a few others from his collection. We ended up talking on the phone for over an hour, and agreed on a time for me to come look at it.
Well fast forward a few days, and TJ and I are on our way down to Flint to check the car out. We get down there, and this guys garage is absolutely amazing. Forget the Colt, give me the garage man! 3 huge bays that would fit 10 cars or more, and a loft of nearly the same dimensions upstairs. We open up all the doors, and as the light pours into the thirt bay I immediately pick out which one is mine. Despite the fact that it had a MR2 car cover on it, the body lines were unmistakeable. TJ and I went over to the car and pulled off the cover to inspect the car. Little dents and rust on the body, but overall in good shape. We pop the hood, and check fluids/belts and fiddle around with things for a little bit and decide to crank 'er over. Crank.....nothing. Crank.......nothing. Crank......sputter?! Crank..fires up! She was running a little rough, but very well for having 6 year old gas. Needless to say, we were grinning like kids in a candy store (or Buschur's Shop ). Everything looked good, so we gave him a deposit, a handshake, told him we'd be back in a week or so, and were on our way.
