Well thanks to absinthminded I got some new wheels wrapped in new Dunlop rubber and she's looking great. Not only does it look much better, but I also lost my horrible high speed vibration (front drivers side wheel was bent pretty good). I also picked up a set of outer tie rod ends for less than 50 bucks, they took me about 30 minutes to put on. With these two changes it's like driving a different car. Oh and I plan on rolling these wheels in the winter. Next plans more then likely are going to be a Tial 38 wastegate with a Punishment Racing recirculating o2 sensor for the Tial wastegate. Probably overkill, but it gives me room for the future...

Yea, I'm def going to ride these wheels in the winter, I figure the powder coating should be tough and my tires on my stock wheels aren't so great. Oh and one day at Uccello's the R was at the bottom of the big sign outside and it's actually been riding in all of my cars for about 2 years.

Well here's the story of my latest failure. Last week I was coming back from lunch heading back to work from long john silvers and all of a sudden my car starts making this horrible knocking noise. It sounds like a really loud rod knock so I pull over and it goes away when I push in the clutch, so I figure its the tranny.
I limp it back to work all the while the knock is getting much worse. So after work I set out to try and get the thing back home. I got about 5 miles and tried to take off from a stop light and heard a pretty long bang, from then on I took off in second gear. The whole way home I sort of limped all the while taking off in second gear and having it buck all over the place. Finally got it home and tore the trans out.
Today my dad took it down to TRE and dropped it off. He was getting ready to leave and they told him to just stay and that they would tear it down in front of him. So they tore it down and found out they I stripped all of the teeth off from first gear (loud boom I heard after 5 miles) and since I continued to drive another 20 miles after the loud boom I pretty much destroyed the rest of the trans.
But my dad talked to him and it looks like I'm getting a brand new stage 3 trans with an Evo III 1st and 5th gear, a double syncroed 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, the heavy duty close ratio 3rd 4th set, an LSD insert for the front and a 4 spider center diff, and all of the other goodies that they do to the stage 3 transmissions. I know it's def overkill for what I have, but it'll shift like a dream and hopefully last for a very long time, plus I couldn't pass up the price (2700) And I'll be picking that bad boy up on Friday!
I should be putting it in probably next Friday, and of course I'll post and let everyone know how fucking great the new trans is!
P.S. If anyone is looking for either an LSD insert or a TRE Center spool just let me know, they salvaged it from the old trans and I have absolutely no need for it. Just name a price.

That transmission sounds bad ass. Sorry about your luck but it sounds like you will be better off than you were before

Ouch, that suck for bad luck. But hell, the new one sounds awesome. Lol, Im still not use to my tre stage one with the taller 5th gear. Im use to cruising just under 30 in 5th not its almost to low. I couldent imagin how yours is gonna feel. It'll be like driving a new car. Best of luck getting everything together. -Edwin

Well I went down to TRE last night and picked up the trans and transfer case, along with some broken parts. Jon is a pretty cool guy, a little different, and he likes to talk, but def a cool guy.
The new transmission looks great and I ended up getting the transfer case rebuilt with a new input shaft since the old one was starting to strip and I'm about tired of stripping transfer cases and destroying the center shaft and VC.
But I'll take some pics of my old stuff and the new stuff later today when I stop by the parents house. Oh and once again, if anyone is looking to pick up a front diff with a LSD insert or a TRE center spool let me know, real cheap!

Well it's back and running, and I think I might come down to the meet tomorrow, obviously won't be able to run the car, but it should be cool to see everybody.

Dang! I feel really bad about that trans now, I told you I'd heard that about the gvr4 1st gear but I didn't expect it to explode on you. Iyou ever need anything or need a help wrenching don't hesitate to call, because I'll help if I'm available. But the car looks great!
