Dang! I feel really bad about that trans now, I told you I'd heard that about the gvr4 1st gear but I didn't expect it to explode on you. Iyou ever need anything or need a help wrenching don't hesitate to call, because I'll help if I'm available. But the car looks great! Hey not a problem, it made the girlfriend a little mad at first since I was spending so much money. But this was a great reason to get everything done, and now I'm really starting to get to my goal, not necessarily go super fast, but have a fun car that I can rely on everyday to get me to work. And since just about everything has been replaced I'm getting close.

Well, it's been a little while so here's a quick update....
Since I got engaged and the fiance is still in school I'm taking care of both of us, the car is kind of on hold for at least another half a year, but I have gotten some work done.
The biggest thing that I've done is a new harmonic dampener and alternator belt, which finally took care of a 2 year long belt squeal. Other than that I bought a new lock cylinder for the driver side (since it's never worked and I just recently broke my spare key in the passenger side door), re-keyed the new cylinder (which is surprisingly easy) and installed it.
I also have a couple of exhaust manifold to turbo housing bolts since I have two broken off, and all the hood rubber and stoppers sitting around waiting to be put in.
Other than that she's running pretty good (including the trans).

Just finished a small project, no pics to show though. New wheel bearings in the front, new ball joints, and new pads and rotors in the front. It's really smooth now, I didn't realize all the noise in the front was my wheel bearings, I just thought the entire car was obnoxiously loud.
She riding smooth now though! That's bout all I got.

Well my alternator toook a crap the other day so I looked up the Saturn alternator swap and decided to give that a go. So I picked up a new duralast gold alternator for a '96 Saturn SC2 and a Painless wiring pigtail and swapped it in this weekend.
It was actually pretty easy, just a little bit of grinding on the alternator and the block and a little bit of soldering and it was all done. I also added a 4 gauge ground wire from the body of the alternator to the ground terminal on the battery and it helped a lot with my radio noise. So if you guys ever need to replace your alternator I would def do the Saturn swap, totally worth it for a cheaper more powerful alternator.
I'll post pics soon.

Hah, I ended up dropping over $100 when mine went out at the ShootOut. So how much... cheaper, was it?

So here's a little update, for the first time since I have owned this car I can lock and unlock the doors from each side with my key, and for the first time in about a year my auto-locks work. I replaced the drivers side door latch and lock cylinder and cleaned up the passenger door latch and pulled the broken key out of the lock cylinder. Which is nice since I just installed this... It's not the cleanest install but I finally feel like I'm taking advantage of the 4" opening in the dash. And it goes pretty nice with my new 64GB iPod Touch... Oh and here's a pic of the Saturn Alt install, I was getting tired of my radio noise so I ran a 4 gauge wire from the body of the alt to the battery ground...

Well here's a little update. Pretty much all of the stuff I've been doing lately has more to do with getting this thing in nice shape again as apposed to making it faster. I just ordered up this little beauty... viper.com/P-4702V/Viper-5501-Responder-Lc3-Supercode-Sst-2-way-Remote-Start-SystemPicked it up for about 250. Should be a pretty easy install and I'm going to love getting into a warm car in the morning. I'll post pics and a review of how easy it actually turns out to be hopefully at the end of the weekend.

Hey are you still interested in a set of stock wheels?

Well the remote starter and keyless entry system is all in and working great. It took about 12 hours all together and was a little bit harder than I thought it would be. The worst part was trying to remove the insulation from the proper wires since they are all tucked away and pretty short.
But it works great and I love it so far, and it's got a built in manual transmission mode so no worry about starting it and running someone over without knowing it.
Next project will be refinishing my Evo wheels, today I'll be picking up a set of stock wheels for the winter from this guy^^. Any suggestions on wheel color? I'm not sure if I want black again or not, I was thinking about just the normal silver? Throw out some ideas!

Well I picked up the extra set of stock wheels from wishihadatalon and hopefully I can get the good set of tires on them soon. But in other news I was driving home from Applebees the other night and the fucking engine developed a huge rod knock.
It started out at only certain RPM's but within only 30 miles it progressed to all the time, even while idling. So now after only two years and 30,000 miles on a full rebuild I have to pull it and have it checked out and rebuilt already, I'm pretty pissed. I called the shop that built it (Performance Engineering in Jenison) and they said that they'll stand behind their work which makes me feel better, but it still doesn't change the fact that it's going to be down for at least 2 weeks and I have a lot of work to do in November weather, damn.
But I'll post the news and some pics as soon as it's out. Oh and if I spun a bearing I'm gonna be needing a 6 bolt crank if anyone has one laying around!
