So...alittle update. Got the valve keeper back in..ill elaborate when I'm not updating from my works shitter..got the new injectors and revised lifters in. When to crank it over...and no start...checked around the engine bay and both belt and ignition timing..3 hours later we found the ecu coolant temp sensor wires were broken...got those fixed...started it up let the lifers prime...the knocking is still there...sunnofa bitch!...did the good ole screwdriver as a listening device and concluded the balance shafts were bad...almost had a deal to get my old ca swapped megasquirt powered s13 back but the deal fell through...so now its just sitting waiting for the engine to be pulled...anyone wanna lend a hand?

so..with bills and funds..im not able to get to the balance shafts till after the shootout..i think im going to pull mine out, replace the bearings then get my shaft turned down by the machine shop. Anyone have any opinions? Easiest way to pull BSs without pulling the motor? Other mods/work i should do while im doing this?

After removing the right eng. mounts, downpipe, and t-case (if awd), just take out the DS engine mounts to drop it down enough for you to get the front case off.
As far as work when you are doing this, I'd recommend a new water pump, timing belt components, and maybe port out the oil pressure relief valve. That is of course on top of new gaskets for the front case & OFH.

well..got to working on it tonight..got everything off the front of the motor besides the front cover and i got 1 bolt on the oil pan..since its sitting overnight in my driveway i didnt wanna risk it. I believe I have a mostly complete gasket set..that im going to use. Also im buying a new timing belt, but the water pump and tensioners were replaced in december..and i dont think i even have 3k on them yet. I dont think im going to port the oil pressure relief just because i dont know the real shape of the oil pump and i figure its better to have alittle more oil pressure. There are a couple of things im wanting to do while doing this..im not sure if they are gonna get done but i want to do them non-the-less. One is an oil cooler, because i got a couple non turbo oil cooler housings..plus i gotta replace a broken stud on the o2 housing to downpipe flange. I also want to actually put in my wideband but im not sure if the 2g downpipe will allow that on my car. But atleast things are getting done on the car after having it sit for 2 months. Ill post back when its running again. It was nice to see everyone at the shootout!

So update. That balance shaft bearing was tore the hell up..some of the inside of the block was 'polished too'..ended up dropping the front of the subframe..knock on wood, way too easy. But we called it quits because i dont have a garage so im working in the dirt and it got dark out..so the front cover and BSs are out..just awaiting the block off bearings and the stubby shaft and reassembly..im getting excited..hopefully by the end of this weekend!

Looks good. How the hell did you manage to strip the splines on that ACT disk? Also, you don't have to pull the engine to do a BSEK, I've done it more than several times. Oh and I see a picklefork, vise grips and a pick, did you use a drill press or shop press to push on the picklefork?

i have no idea how the splines stripped..we think maybe since the trans kept comming loose? but were not sure. I was also told it couldnt be warenteed like that so i didnt even try to bother. I know i dont have to pull the motor..but my driveway is dirt and already having the car fall on me once this year i didnt trust it enough to lay under the motor and align the bearings to be smashed in..so easier on me without having the crankshaft 2" from my forehead. You are correct sir!! sept the valvespring was pressed down via pickle fork on the visegrip spacer via me and a buddy of mines brute mind-numbing strength! bwaha!

VRSF 2g fmic kit, this kit looks great and it comes with mounting hardware. it has a really trick BOV flange design that im not sure how well it works yet, but it looks nice and has excellent funtionability..the flanges are THREADED on, so Greddy and 1g are easily swappible, no more drilling I also got a hallman pro boost controller, evo 560s, a fuel rail -AN adaptor and 2g maf s577.photobucket.com/albums/ss216/nissantouge87/comment, critisism, and stuffs.
