I don't post here much, but some of you all know me. Those who do, know I've been having trouble holding onto dsm's lol. The last one I sold after an idiot ran a red light and killed our daily driver, we needed a down payment on something new.
So, I've been "searching" ever since then, dreaming of the day when I can afford another one. Well one of my buddies gave me a call one night and said "I got you a dsm". I of course laughed and told him I couldn't afford it, blah blah blah...then he hits me with this "it's free". I nearly laughed, then asked why. He told me a guy in ohio (works for shep btw) is trying to save it from the scrap yard, but it's actually pretty clean but is just the shell.
I talked to the wife about it, who declared as long as I didn't spend a fortune building it back up that I could have it. So I started buying parts, correction, I started being given parts. I bought a full longblock for 300, bought an evoIII manifold in exchange for a brand new stock rebuilt transmission, was given a gm maft w/sensor, free SBR manifold, brand new knock sensor and O2 sensor, hard intake pipe, rear end, nearly full interior, 14b for $50. And lastly I was invited to use a buddy's garage to build it in, free of charge for as long as it takes, plus access to his parts bin which is full of several dsms worth of parts.
But then we had to go pick up the shell, I had only seen this picture before we left.
Another friend drove his truck and trailer down to Ohio for the price of fuel and mcdonalds! I have to admit I was a little worried I might be picking up a rust bucket or something. But suprisingly the car is very clean, it needs paint obviously, but there is very little rust starting, the front fenders are new and rust free, the hood is straight, there are only a few dings and dents that are pretty small. So we loaded her up with spare interior parts, a 3 bolt rear end, and a "free" 91-94 wiring harness and we took off for Michigan.
Trans..
I can't thank the people who are making this possible enough. I've done my share of driving around the state helping people out, and giving good deals on crap I've sold, but I never expected so many people to be willing to straight up give me stuff, and give me incredible deals on other stuff.
But the deal is I have to run 11's on the 14b...
1990 Eagle Talon TSI AWD...once again.
