so heres the deal. i havea friend who is tryin to sell me his talon. its a 95 fwd 5 spd 420a. it has a rod knock but i dont have my license yet anyways so it will sit for about half a year. in the time it sits the motor will get a rebuild but i want to turbo it. i was told in order to turbo it you have to lower the compression. how much would i be looking to spend to turbo it or is it possible to put a 4g63 in it? any help would be greatful

I have only ever seen 1 420a car that was converted to a 4g63. The guy said that he would never ever consider it again. It took him over 7 months to complete.

I personally had a 1995 FWD 420a, and had considered going turbo. I stand here today telling you exactly what everyone else told me... Buy a 4g63 and never look back.
Its ALOT of work to do it correctly, and your always going to be limited by something. And like TJ said, its not worth the time to swap. That is unless the car was in pristine condition.
And back to your orignal question, when i was looking into a turbo kit for my 420a, i think i found most kits running anywhere from 2k to 4k. And that was just the turbo setups. Nothing to do with the motor work.
If you want a turbo car, find an older 1g 4g63 fwd or awd and you will be happy. of if you have a little more cash to play with, find a newer 2g. They are getting cheaper by the day it seems.

ok thats what i figured. it would be too much work and way too much to spend on a setup. ive seen a few people over here in SE MI that sell 1g turbo fwd cars for under $500. only problem is that every time i come across one it needs something major to get it running right and i definately dont have that type of money. thanks guys i may just get it for a beater lol
