Hey guys, so I installed a new aftermarket radio and it didn't have an illumination lead. So now my tail lights and dash lights aren't working (I read up on how that circuit works and apparently the illumination lead on your radio needs to be hooked up to complete the circuit)
Well what I'm wondering is since my new radio doesn't have an illumination lead can I just run the illumination lead on the cars harness to ground? As far as I can tell when it's hooked up all the illumination lead does is run into the radio and that's it. So I'm thinking it just grounds in the radio, or possibly sees a tiny bit of resistance.
So I guess I'm just asking if anyone knows for sure before I try to hook it up and blow something. Can this wire be grounded or should it see some sort of resistance before ground?

If you that wire is orange it does not need to be hooked up. I also have a screen in mine at I did not hook it up. But what is the color of the wire?

Yea, the wire is Orange. This is the only thing that has changed, the fact that this wire is no longer hooked up. And according to everything I have read so far they say that this wire needs to be connected in order to complete the parking light/taillight/dash lights circuit.

Ya the orange wire coming out of the harness on mine is not hooked up to anything, same as it coming out of the stereo.

Ya the orange wire and the orange with white strip shouldnt have to be hooked up to anything.
Do you have subwoofers and a amp in the back?

Alright, well checked the fuses again and the TAIL fuse under the hood was blown. Put in a 15 amp (I know you're not supposed to go higher then the initial rating) and now it's working and seems to be staying that way. The only thing I can think of is I have my boost gauge spliced into my dimmer switch so it will dim with the rest of my interior light and maybe thats pulling a litte more juice now causing the 10 amp to pop.

I hooked my boost gauge wire to that orange wire that come out of your harness. That might help you out by not blowing that fuse.

you might wanna delve deeper into the wiring to see if you don't have another underlying issue... i have never hooked up the orange wire, and the boost gauge in mine is also tapped into the dimmer... i think there may be another issue elsewhere

i've ran 3 gauges lights off the dimmer before with no problems so i doubt one will blow a fuse
