Hey y'all, a friend of mine and myself are trying to kill ourselves and turbocharge a tomos moped ;D I have been doing some searching, but I haven't found much in the ways of small enough and cheap enough turbos yet. If anyone has any constructive comments, ideas or even small turbos please post it up! Thanks, ~Brian

Try a 9b turbo. They smaller than the t25 and come on 3kgt/stealth rt tt's. I dont really know of anything smaller than that.

9b has crossed my mind as well as the k03 from vw. The trick is finding one cheap, and close...

One of my buddies put a 9b on his 1999 Yamaha R6. looked cool, but couldn't get enough fuel. The thing died as soon as load was put on it. Sounded cool when you reved it though. He ended up taking it off the bike. Just my $0.02

He ended up taking it off the bike. Just my $0.02 I am a little worried about this as well, the trick is finding a turbo small enough to function correctly for cheap enough to make it worth it I talked to a few people who said they could make me something for 'bout $600 Which seems a little exorbitant for a $25 moped. Thanks for your input! ~Brian

hey brian trying researching ones off small power equipment and generators.
your problem is gonna be finding something small enough to spool and yet even small enough to fuel as bobby mentioned. with a carb like on something small like that you dont have the luxury of secondaries or a wide enough powerband to jet it properly very easily.

Especially on what I'm assuming will be the stock 50cc motor. Maybe if you kit it around at least 80cc's or so maybe. I just don't think there is enough of anything flowing through any part of the bike to spool it. I wish and am intrigued to see if you guys can do it. I imagine if you even can get it to spool. Once it spools, unless you buy a very adjustable carb, it will just run lean and fuck shit up.

Keep it coming guys! It is getting closer to the trial & error period, we got our eyes on a small secondary turbo from a compound turbo from a subi (I hope to find out more about the subi in the process) but at this point it is just a cheap/free(?) small turbo to start on. We also just got a line on a mechine shop in town that is run buy a motorcycle enthusiust, 80cc is definatly in the plans I'll keep info and soon pictures coming, but keep adding please, any info is appreceated! ~Brian

The 9B is way too big for 50cc. A 9b is more suited for a 600 cc bike. As are the Mitsu 13G and Garrett T20.
I don't know anything about smaller turbos than those, but I do know they exist. Anybody remember that turbocharged barstool that Hal Landry built a few years back? It had a tiny little compressor with a tiny single barrel carb that bolted onto the compressor inlet. That would be perfect for a moped.

nice find brent! but $214 is a bit out of range for this project. We have found twin turbos from a jdm forester for free(!!), which might be small enough, but keep ideas coming I ill post pictures one we have a mock up. Next question is head-studs/head-gasket any ideas? I was thinking that the studs might put up with the added stress, but a thicker gasket probably wouldn't hurt. Thoughts? ~Brian
