Hi
So as most of you know I recently picked up a 03 Evo VIII.
Here's some pics and the info.
Motor Rebuilt 31k miles ago by Dynamic Speed in Chesterfield, MI. At this time the following was done:
- Bored .20 over
- Balanced Crank
- Balance Shafts Removed
- JE Pistons installed with Diamond Coatings applied
- Oliver I-Beam Rods
- ARP Main Bolts
- ACL Bearings throughout
- Head decked and valve guides and seals replaced
- Ferrea Double Valve Springs
- Manley Standard size intake and exhaust valves
- New Mitsubishi MLS Head Gasket
- New Water pump
- New timing components and OE belt and serpentine belt
- Oil Pan was replaced with new valve cover gasket
Front brakes incluing rotors and pads replaced 7k miles ago. Rear rotors and pads replaced 15k(est) miles ago. All drivetrain fluids changed 2 months ago - all OEM fluids used. Oil change just done with Mobil 1. Oil changes are done as should be on this car. You could eat off of the head it is clean. Newer starter. Transmission was replaced under factory warranty. Feels decent with the short shifter and brass underhood shifter bushings. Perrin Mini-Antenna with stock radio. The car used to have gauges in it - I will include a double steering wheel mount gauge panel from Autometer so you can re-install if desired. Car has a viper alarm system that should be un-installed as it has a remote start function that should not be on the car as it is a manual - key fobs are MIA.
This car was put back to stock as the owner decided to move on. At this current time it has the stock 8 turbo, stock exhaust, stock clutch/flywheel, stock injectors, stock fuel pump, stock fmic, stock piping, stock airbox, stock suspension. I considered putting a stock motor in although no offers really came in that were worth my time to do the swap. It has stock 8 wheels painted black with Falken Azenis RT-615 tires 255/40/17 that are only good for summer use. The oil cooler has been removed at this time due to a leaky line - it will be included. The car has no rear sway bar at this time - on stock suspension this is really not a big deal. It has no front lip - stock one is long gone due to Detroit roads. The car pulls a bit to the right, probably just needs an alignment - I might have this checked out.
The body is in decent shape with no major dings or dents. I have not seen any rust on the car other than a few rock chips behind the two rear doors which is normal for these cars. The interior is nothing to write home about. The seats were painted black although still Recaro's. The carpet could use a really good cleaning although with some work will definately be good. The windows are tinted to what looks to be about 15%. The sunroof does not open although you can hear the motor engaging so I believe this is an easy fix once you drop the headliner. Has an EVO MR MR center console which does not fit the shifter knob - but it does the job.
It also came with a couple issue not listed in the fs thread but were mentioned to me at the time of sale.
- dash lights turn off when the head lights are turned on
- passenger tail lights not lighting(will when braking).
Then when I drove it to a friends it developed a coolant leak. It turned out to be the coolant feed line to the turbo so it was quickly resolved.
My plans for this are yet to be deternimed however I dont plan to do any real mods until I pay the car off(loan). For now I will just fix all its problems and enjoy driving it.
