Okay so before I get bashed. I'm new to the DSM world or at least having problems with them (wierd huh). I start my car up everyday and it isntantly idles at between 2500 to 3000 rpm. I have no idea what it is. The screw by the TB cannot be tightened anymore. Just please give me suggestions on what to look for. The car is a 92 Tsi awd.

So does the idle come down to the regular rpms after it warms up?
In the throttle body there's a spring holding a valve open letting in air to make it idle high at startup. The passage has coolant flowing through it and as the car warms up. The spring contracts closing the valve. The is called a fiav( fast idle air valve). That does get faulty in thies car so that could be your problem. You could swap you trottlebody, fiav, or rebuild it.

When the car is fully warm the iac takes control of the idle. Also the tps and boost leaks might throw your idle off. In addition, I believe when the biss screw is turned in it turns the idle up. Counter clockwise lowers your idle.

When the biss screw is tightened it lowers the idle allowing less air in...clockwise lowers the idle, counter clockwise raises it
