I am doing an external set up, and I was wondering if anyone knew who had the best prices. The best I found was $205 shipped off e-bay for a tail 35mm or 38mm I cannot remember(I have checked too many places). So if anyone knows someone with better prices please let me know. Thanks

Its Tial and I think 205 is the cheapest you will find unless you get a used one.

$205 shipped is cheap. I think I paid like $220 from SBR for mine, and I thought that was a deal.
Dan just picked up a nice, used one for real cheap. Like $150 with the dump tube and everything....

Well, it wasn't $150 Paul, but it was a great deal. I got a literally as close to new as you could get Tial 38mm WG, a black one at that. Most vendors only stock the silver ones and you have to special order any other colors, so finding a black one was really a special treat. But its so new that there is not even a spec of black inside the valve housing, so that means the valve never opened, thus meaning it was never boosted on. Can't get much newer than that. Also it came with 4 springs. A big red, big blue, small green, and small blue. These springs new are $25 each. Also it came with a custom fabbed up dump tube that runs perfectly on my setup. I got lucky b/c the guy I got it from had an SBR new manifold like me and a bullseye turbine housing like me so the tump tube ran perfectly the same way it did for him. So the WG is 220 new, 100 for the springs, 25 for the outlet flange, and then whatever it cost him to build the dump tube, Thats over $350 worth of goodies, I got it for $220 shipped. Not a bad deal at all if you ask me.

However, if you'r buying them new, the best price I found is for $209.99 from SBR. But the you have to buy flanges and pay $8 for shipping.

Or it means the previous owner simply cleaned it out to make it look more presentable. There's no such thing as a used external wastegate that never opened....... It's it's not covered in carbon deposits, then it either A.) was recently cleaned or B.) was never installed.

Wrong!! The bottom of the valve face is black w/ ehaust fumes, although it wipes away with my finger. You can tell it hasn't been cleaned in any way. If it were boosted on, the inside of the valve opening housing would be black with exhaust also. If it were cleaned, theres no way you could ever get it perfectly clean. There is such a thing as a used external wastegate that never opened.

The cheaper $200 gates have the black valve that not race gas friendly.

There is such a thing as a used external wastegate that never opened. Ohh, OK, I understand now. You bought it from the guy that installed it on his turbocharged engine and drove around for a few thousand miles and NEVER ONCE BUILT BOOST.......

IT WAS NEVER DRIVEN ON! IT HAS NO MILES ON IT! In that case, IT'S NOT USED - IT'S NEW!!!! If it has no miles and was never driven on, then what makes it used?

Thank you Josh, exactly my point.
You gotta think, any part that was even installed, not ran or started on, is in some way used. If it were me, I would have sold it as near new conditon, as did the seller I got it from.

These are details I was unaware of.
I've never heard of anyone installing an external wastegate, firing up the engine, shutting her down, uninstalling it, and then selling it. I, personally, seem to carry a "point of purpose" with most of my actions.....
But whatever...... At least you got a good deal, I suppose........
