That sucks to hear. I didn't know piston rings had a top and bottom. Lets see some pics of the progress.

I knew there was a good reason your a Tuners Mod ;D

Ok, so the problem ended up being the timming after all. The issue was when I put it back together I flipped around the timming plate that sits behind the cranks sprocket. I havent been keeping this thread updated to well but im in the process of putting it back together now. Im pretty much up to the waterpipe, exhaust mani, intake mani , oilpan, flywheel, exe. Here's the most recent pic I have. If all works well ,my next day off is sunday. Thats when Id like to put the engine back in.

Looking good. I was both relieved and sad when you told me about that crank plate . Oh well, should be a tires spinner soon enough

More update pics! I think I love powder coating . (the purple looks darker in person) The wierd lump on the right one is some weld. Again the purple looks alot brighter in the pic. Also not sure if I want to shave the letters o the valve cover yet.

That stuff looks great. I just had some parts powder coated myself. Powder coating is not meant to stand up to the heat that your exhaust mani is going to put out. I predict that stuff baking right off. I does look nice though.

aaron, check out southwest sandblasting. i've had em do a couple sets of rims for me and they're decently priced. they're kind in the ghetto but do good work. they're just south of burton right next to 131. you can even see em from the highway

It runs! It has a bit of a rough idle though. Needs to be tuned and cleaned up but here's a vid. Also It wasent up to full temp yet so the new lifters are still have a little tick. But nothing compared to last time, lol. It sounds like it has some cams .

A lil update. The car was running fine so i decided to take it to firestone to get me new tire mounted. On the way there the timming decided id be a good time to go for a jump and it did so . After getting it back home I pulled the timming back apart and re-did it. Iv done a compression test and they all read 5psi less then what they where befor I took it for a drive, soo I believe the no valves are damaged. And as for that 5psi perhaps the rings just sat better seeing how it had never been driven. I started it up yetserday and it ran just as it was befor . Its running good although I did find that there is a big air leak under the intake manifold that I cant seem to get tighter. I'll be pulling that off soon the and replacing the gasket and hope it runs a little better. And get this bitch tuned. -Edwin

The paper piece that Felpro offers sucks ass. It blows out on me every time at around 20psi. If you need a metal one let me know, I have an extra 1g flanged metal gasket.
