Well I finally got the short block back from the machine shop. Turns out that I spun a rod bearing on number one and took out the rod. I also somehow broke an oil squirter on number two, but they were able to cut the crankshaft and reuse it so I was happy about that, but I needed a new rod. It also looked like the number one piston came up and hit the combustion chamber so I had to have the head milled a little bit.
But after 700 at the machine shop and 1100 in parts and goodies from extremepsi including Defi White Racer oil pressure and boost gauges, ARP headstuds, and a ton of oem bolts and gasket I'm getting ready to throw her back together. So far the intake and exhaust manifold, turbo, and timing are done, so maybe another couple days and I can finally drive my baby again. I'll throw up some pics soon.

Well I worked on it for most of the day today and got pretty far, all I have to do is finish installing my new sensors, pour in some fluids and check all of my DSMLink settings and she should fire right up.

Is that a saturn alternator I see? Looks like it. IIRC he showed the install in his build thread

Yea, I swapped it out when my stock one died a couple of months ago. Damn I wish I didn't work 11 hour days so I could finish the 2 hours of work on this thing.

She finally runs again! Got it all back together and it cranked over about 3 times before it started right up. So far it's running great and I really like the new gauges. So far my oil pressure seems to be riding around 15 on warm idle and 60-80 while cruising and according to what I've read that seems to be normal.
I don't have any pics yet, but I'll get a couple and throw them up. It's just so nice to have my car back again! Oh and right after I got it finished I took it out for a spin and promptly was pulled over for a "overly loud exhaust" fucking bullshit, pig with nothing better to do than hassle the kid in the loud red sports car, whatever.

Break in period is done and I upgraded to V3. I have a vacuum leak I have to find, my vacuum at idle is around 15 or 16, so I plan on doing a EGR delete and freshening up the TB. After that I just need a couple of sensors to start running SD and start beating on it again.

Well I just pre-spent some of my income tax on a couple of goodies for the ride. Here's the list of incoming parts:
-FP Aluminum Intake Pipe -K&N 9" Length Filter -GM 3 Bar MAP Sensor (for my SD setup) -Inovative LC-1 Wideband O2 with digital gauge -Various couplers and clamps
I'm starting to think that I've taken the most ass-backwards upgrade path that anyone has ever taken. I have just about everything I need to run around 350 or 400 horses except I have absolutely no fuel upgrades and I'm still rocking the stock SMIC. Fuck me.

I don't have any pics yet but I got some of my new parts installed. I got my LC-1 all wired up and working, I wired one of the analog outputs up to the stock O2 sensor input on the ECU and started using the narrow band simulation that's built into Link. The narrow band simulation works flawlessly, I swear it seems smoother than stock. And since I'm using the WB for both data-logging and narrow band simulation I just threw it into the stock O2 sensor location. I know that the heat isn't so great for these sensors, but I plan on installing a heatsink, and so far it works great anyway.
I also got the GM MAP sensor all wired in and working. I put the FP intake and filter in and started the car up using SD and man that BOV sounds mean when it's vented (I know it's ricer, but it does sound pretty wicked). But I haven't had time to really tune it so I put the stock intake back in so I can just switch between MAF and SD.
I also picked up a Walbro 255 high pressure pump and an Aeromotive AFPR with install kit but I haven't put that stuff in. Hopefully this weekend I can get this new stuff put in and tune my new SD setup. Let me know what you guys think.

It looks like I might be the only one looking at this thing, but I guess it'll be nice to be able to look back and track my progress haha. So I started running speed density and it runs great, I'm running off from the default VE table in DSMLink and according to the WB O2 it's running great and my fuel trim aren't too far off. I'm also not even running an IAT sensor and it still works great, speed density through DSMLink is really impressing me. But then today I was getting ready to go on lunch at work and went outside to warm the car up, got ready and pushed in the clutch and felt it go right to the floor. I installed a SS line where the rubber line was (close to the slave cylinder) about year ago and it seems it crapped out on me. So I just ordered this guy up... www.extremepsi.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=22373&cat=612&page=1

^^^ Interesting line. I've never seen the 82" line before - just the shorter ones.

I replaced part of mine with braided. I kinda wish I did the whole thing. I think I might go with link again. I just hope running sd is as easy as you make it sound, lol.
