HOLY SHIT! i'm amazed it still ran to any extent! I know! This bastard still started and drove like this. It just had "noises" and wouldn't hold an idle. LOL I wish I had a third engine stand. Dale's engine is on my second one, so I'll have to wait until we drop his engine back in before I get this engine on one.

Ima guess the stock rod caps weren't torqued correctly on the previous rebuild.

Ima guess the stock rod caps weren't torqued correctly on the previous rebuild. My guess as well. I'm surprised that it made it 900 miles.... I'm even more surprised that it ran in this condition.

So, I got the engine pulled apart Sunday morning. It wasn't pretty. BUT, the head is fine, and most of the damage was all isolated to cylinder #4 only. One of two holes in the block's exterior: This is how I found it with the pan pulled. There is no ign of a connecting rod anywhere in the #4 cylinder. Also notice the loack of the main cap bridge: Debris in the pan: #4 piston. This is exactly how I found it in the cylinder: This is what I could find and identify:

Thats some serious carnage there Paul! My 14b ugly pos is ready to go, just have to fix a couple boost leaks now. I might even get her out to Lapeer since they're still open until December if the snow holds off. Keep the updates coming.

Last night was wire removal day. I was told by a fellow DSMer that it's possible to remove 28-32 lbs. of un-used wire from the car. He was right. I'm not even 30% done, and I have a giant pile of wire that I cut out. Not to mention all those relays and unneeded sensors that I also removed. It was actually kinda fun too. lol And I also took home 40 feet of chrome moly tubing last night. As well as a 100-pack of gussetts. It will be cage time soon!

Paul....I would take that wire, if it is copper, to a copper recycler. They are paying BIG BUCKS for that stuff now-a-days. Our IT guy from our company just got over $500 for some left over wire from one of our new apt. building builds.
Car is coming together, I look forward to seeing more! and that cage too....

(i didn't rear all 5 pages) fast forward->->-> would it be easier to pull all wiring and only install what you need to make it "legal" at the track... like parking lights for an example. if your doing a EMS do an open loom (like TJ's) and just wire to each piece and keep it clean, known, and straight to the point... food for the belly...
