Alright, first off, I thought I already had username for this site... I was pretty sure I did, but when I came back it wasn't there, so you guys might have already seen some of this. It is a 97 TSi AWD purchased 100% stock about 2-2.5 years ago and has been changed quite a bit. The engine was built by myself and the help of a friend. The engine build consisted of remanufactured 4g64 crank, eagle h-beam rods, wiseco piston (.020 over) no b/s, ACL bearings, other things like ARP head studs, cometic head gasket etc... Head is still stock and will be changing during the winter also. Heres the only pictures I can find of the engine build: Well I started to kind of collect parts and came across a pretty good deal. My friend wanted to trade me my eclipse bumper/head lights for his 2gb talon bumper, head lgihts, and OEM style carbon fiber hood. Well, I've been wanting my old bumper back for quite some time so I took the trade... and plus there was a free c/f hood in it for me too haha. The hood is a bit beat up, but I'll see how well I can clean it up. The hood does not look nearly as bad up front in person as it does in the picture. I also picked up a set of EVO 8 wheels... Will have them powder coated black most likely.

If it were me, I definitely would have decked the block to ensure that that MLS will seal. Otherwise, looks like a fun build.

Map > Maf.
DSMLink is more idiot proof, and if i remember correctly DSMLink only has a % adjustment at each rpm point, not a 12x12 table of MAP vs RPM. and spark vs RPM. Either one works, its like comparing apples-to-oranges.

DSMLink V.3 will support all this. Map, as well as GM maf usage w/out the need with a translator. Not to mention a whole new layout and table maps.

I am sorry Dan but you can NOT compare a daughter board system to a full standalone, no matter what way you spin it. Moving sliders and only being able to tune certain areas of your map does not give you anywhere near the full function of what you may do with a full standalone. Not to mention that DSMLink v3 isn't due out till when? Like next year? So that means like 3 years in dsmlink release time.

But link is soo much more user friendly. Its also got a much larger user group thats full of great info. Not to mention, a few cars in the 8's and a handful in the 9's, and countless in 10's and 11's using it.
MS might be cheaper and have more tuning ability, but link is fully capable of taking you where you wanna go. If your gonna go with a full stand alone, might as well go with aem.

You sound like every other DSMLink owner I have ever seen type. Link is very far from the end all, though most users think it is gods gift. While you only have sliders and that might be super user friendly, it is limited. Not to mention the maf function still. I have never liked maf sensors and how picky they make cars. With Ben's car, we had it running for a few hours at most and we were out putting the hurt on 110mph cars, and the only problem that it had was fouling spark plugs, because I had a pig rich spot in the map. Having full open source support makes for very interesting and valuable changes, and if you have a problem of any kind you have various super code geeks around the WORLD, helping you solve it and making the code work. If you want to throw out numbers then you could say that m.s. has powered vehicles past 2200whp, and powered many of the cars that participate and win in the Hot Rod pump gas drags. If you didn't know, those require the cars to not only run pump gas while racing, but also require that you drive (not trailer) your car from event to event, which spreads throughout the entire midwest. As for aem, the only thing that I see that you can get that m.s. doesn't have, is maybe 32x32 tables and more outputs. Remember, m.s. has had to adapt to all sorts of different uses, because its users do all sorts of motor sports.
