So my brother picked up a 90' fwd laser that we've been playing with for the last month. So far we got it running great and has been our test vehicle for a speed density program that we have been trying to get going. Mod wise it's a 14b, 255walbro,1000cc injectors, full baller 3'in side exit exhaust, 2600 act, everything else is still stock. With the speed density program we got it to run way better than than the maf setup and have been running e-85.
First impressions for me is fuck it spools so damn fast and the e-85 just gives a shit ton of midrange. It's a blast for me to drive around town. Every time a take it out I get a uncontrollable laugh from just blowing the tires off 1st and 2nd and barking 3rd. For a 14b car it is pretty damn strong.
Luke asked "what do think?" The first thing I said is " Man that thing is funner than a barrel of monkeys!" Thus it's named barrel of monkeys.
I really enjoy driving in a stock interior dsm again. It makes me want to get other awd dsm and make it a fast daily driver. The race car is starting to get old to me.
Just wanted to share some new news.

hehe I keep hearing about this thing but I have yet to see it. I wanna check it out and the speed density program that he is running. Sucks that your interior is pretty much too far gone to even try to get back together You should try to do like Jake M did and custom fit a dash and add some carpet. I bet you could get it back to a more enjoyable car with not too much effort.

Good stuff. Tell us more about the speed density program. Who's software and hardware does it use?

The code is from the dsm-ecu list made by some dude named Nick "pudhed". Never caught his last name though, I think Luke knows. We (more or less Luke) uses the TunerPro software to modify the final hex. Tunerpro lets you setup all parameters,fuel,timing,rev-limit,injector comp,hard/soft VE, so on and so forth in separate tables or 3D graphs. Then converts to hex in the final editor for you. Pretty slick.
From there send it to the Moates.net Flash and Burn Interface and burn the chip.
Some of the shit has to be hand written by Luke and takes awhile to get it down and saved for later use. He hand wrote the antilag program with separate launch 2-step,NLTS,and final rev limit rpm settings based off the upper clutch switch and speed sensor.
He's setting it up to be more "user friendly" for my dumb ass so I can make changes on my own without writing individual hex. ;D I'll have my car on SD by next week. Can't wait.

Also, he uses the PocketDyno program now to log. It lets you make global changes to fuel based off the injector setup. You can change the launch two step on the fly too without re-burning the chip. Plus log like normal.
It does have a table that lets you change soft/hard VE based off rpm but nobody can figure how to make it work yet.

It's Tan with tinted windows with a offset double black pin strips going long ways on the car- roof, hood, hatch. On the hatch there's sticker that says "Turbo 16v Laser". The pop up's stay open always.
God awful ugly man I tell ya' He got it for $100 with a blown clutch. The guy drove it everywhere in Kalamazoo for the last 6 years. I used to see him all the time on the east side.

i think i might have seen it around. i dont understand half of what you just said about your speed density setup but it sounds like a hell of a lot of cheap fun in the making

I think that Nick guy is the same guy that developed/wrote the program for DSMap.
Let me know when you guys take your car to the track on SD. I want to check it out.
I'll be switching to SD as well, but I have to wait for version 3 of Link to come out first.
