I got a package from Summit today, My 4" aluminum for an intake I'm making. Consists of 2) 45deg, and 1) 6" straight peice. And I ordered a K&N that's probably a little big, but not big enough to make it worth the hassle of returning it to Summit. 4"inlet, 9in long, 7 wide and 5 tall (oval) I'll have pics later tonight maybe.
My intake manifold finally came yesterday WOOT!
and I'm expecting My JAM springs and retainers that I bought today to be here the day after tomorrow. *thanks again Paul for setting me up w/Ben* (sounded gay sorry..)
Now I'll have to weld my intake this weekend possibly, and then finish my sealed air box.

Well, after everything this damn car has put me through the last 6 mos. I'm pretty much going to officially say it's not going to be at Pinks... After the trans issues, clutch issues, and the latest, a MLS head gasket that apparently never sealed, I've had it. All my previous issues have been solved, and while the head was off, I decided to take it down and have the JAM springs/ret installed, as well as the WEB cams I bought, through it all on yesterday/today. Put in isolated intake and t/b gaskets too, as well as changed to a new throttle body, and intake manifold, ans wastegate set up. After everything was installed etc.. it was finally time to fire it up, and i don't know just maybe drive her outside for a bath. But no go... Just cranks over, then suffers a major backfire (one). So i double check everything, and found my #4 injector wasn't snapped in place, so i fixed it, no difference. removed the timing cover motor mount etc. and checked the timing, and it was all dead nuts. Long story short I found nothing else out of the ordinary, except for when I gave it a compression test. #1 had 60 psi.... Only thing I can think of is that an intake valve is hanging open causing the backfire/low compression.. It was 145psi before all this work was done, as were/are the other 3 cylinders. So unless it's something I missed, I'm done for awhile, I need a vacation from this damn car. It's 1/2 tore down now, and I don't have any more $$ to take the head back off etc.. and have this shit fixed. Figured I'd let you guys know... Sorry John, but your hopes of seeing your old car at Pinks are no more.. It's times like these that make me want to sell ALL the dsm's I own (4) and just go the boring but dependable rout.

Screw that MLS man. Throw a composite gasket on there. They're cheap and reliable and you could have it running after an afternoon's worth of work.

There's a composite in there now, and it was all back together...

Lifter pump up? Try bleeding the lifters and starting again.

Lifter pump up? Try bleeding the lifters and starting again. That would cause a no start? Low compression, and major backfires?? Worth a try I guess, the stock cams are going back in too. I know web cams have a few issues, and I'm still using the factory cam gears. I'd think all would be off if anything, not just one cylinder though. Any more ideas?? I may pull the head again, and bring the head in to be vac. tested for proper valve seal, but want to try the cams first.

Yeah, lifter pump up can cause a valve to stick open. Did you bleed them before install?

No, they were never removed from the head. Except for one. Come to think of it, it was on #1. How do I 'bleed' it? I've only ever had to soak them in a bowl of oil...
