i'd just buy the bolt-in brackets like i did for my last talon. it puts everything just like it should be and you have sliders then too. i still have that driver's side one from my talon and two pairs of sliders if paul doesnt want em...

It's fine to bolt down the brackets, but don't get those gorgeous seats all torqued down if you plan on cagin it, makes it a pain in the butt to fit everything with them fully mounted, just an fyi....

Yeah, don't worry, they won't be fully installed for the cage build. I just want them in place so we can measure around them. I'll shoot you an e-mail about it in a day or so. And the windhield will be out too, so hopefully that should help with the welding.

Finally made some progress over the last couple weeks. The seat brackets are in, and position the seat as low as possible, and exactly where I want it. What started as 12 feet of 3" x 3" x .1875" angle aluminum is now just a small pile of scrap. Bolted in place. Back shot. Head room. How they actually bolt to the seat. Side shot. 3" off the floor up front. 2" in the back. How it mounts to the floor to offset the seat. There's room for forward and backward movement if needed. Stainless harware to hold it all together, and add that little extra! I still have to round some corners and make the edges all smooth, but I'm considering this part done. Dash removal and cage install are next.

I didn't see anything about bracket material when I skimmed through the rules. Lets hope so. Otherwise they are getting painted. Although, I figured if the Kirkey seats are legal, and you can get aluminum brackets for them, then I should be able to jump in a loop hole.

Nice work on the brackets, man. That's exactly how I was going to doo mine. I started to make them, positioned the seat, then realized that it sat too high up for me. I've sinced sourced out a set of brackets that are prefabbed and angle adjustable. The are steel, but they are made of a thinner material than the aluminum angle stock that I have, so the weight differene isn't much. I now plan to bolt them directly to the floor and give the seat a larger degree of "layback" than before. This should be easier for my tall and large framed (read: fatass) body to get comfortable with taking the cage and helmet into consideration. Nice, but is the aluminum bracketry legal for NHRA? Per the rules: Seats must be bolted with four bolts (and nuts and washers) on the bottom and one bolt in the rear into crossbar; all bolts must go into frame or crossbraces. Ball-lock pins for seat attachment prohibited in all classes. All seats must be upholstered, or as noted under Class or SFI Requirements. Properly braced, framed, supported, and constructed seats of aluminum, fiberglass, carbon fiber, or double-layer poly (accessory seats) permitted. Single-layer fiberglass seats must have steel tube framework, 1/2-inch minimum O.D., for support. Aftermarket aluminum seats must have reinforced head rest. Magnesium seats prohibited.It seems that the seats fasteners are of more importance in seat retainment than the material of the bracketry.

Lookin awesome, I see no issue with using aluminum. I was just givin ya a hard time about the seats, we'll definetly need them in for measuring purposes. Give me a hollar sometime and we can discuss more.....

Well I got bored tonight and decided to pull the dash out. I thought this was fairly easy in the 2g, but damn this was a joke. It took 45 minutes tops! All I have left is the headliner and b-pillar trim, followed by dry-icing the sound deadening material. Just to show how much clearance my sweet brackets give me. The coolest "previous owner mod" ever. Hallman in-car MBC. All thats left.

Are those seats going to allow for enough room to have the door bars pass by? Judging by the pictures, it looks like that shoulder support on the seat might be in the way.

Isn't that why they come in under the shoulder support? It looked like there might be enough room in that area, which is where the bar is supposed to go through at.
