Paul did you pick up them cams from your work by chance? I was curious if they had any dsm cams in stock. I do have the 101200's in stock here at lane. But I didn't buy these new. I traded them for an extra non-lsd subframe that I've had laying in the back of the garage for 2 years... It was the deal of a lifetime for me, so I couldn't turn it down. I'm not 100% dead-set on runnigng these, but I don't feel they will hurt. I'm also not apposed to trying something that is potentially better for my set-up and selling these to purchase the chromoly tubing for the cage. I would love to hear more about your cam trick, Angelo. His trick is a flapper on the wg dump tube. I am not sure on how many people have done the dual intake cam trick, but the only car I have ever seen it with was Bens red 18g car. I talked to the guy who built it and he told me that he saw great jumps in both tq and hp with better spool.

Use a butterfly from a cyclone intake manifold and fit it to the bottom of the dump tube. You can keep it cracked enough to keep the boost up or even creep after the wastgate blows open when all else fails. On the 14b it would hit 31psi then slowly settle to 28psi. On the 18g I could run about anything I wanted. opened and closed

Interesting concept, Angelo. So, you retained the original internal wastegate flapper and actuater too, right? Did you also use a MBC or was this flapper enough restriction to hit 30 psi by itself?

Yep, original actuator with a light spring to pre-load the flapper and mbc. Think of it as a secondary wastegate valve. ;D Never saw anyone else try or think about it. It takes a couple boost checks to get the sweet spot but man it works great ! I'll have that 3'in o2/down pipe for sale soon after I clean it up.

A couple small updates: Dale has decided not to carry on any furthur with this car. He's got a handful of side projects going on for himself, and there just wasn't any time or money for this one. So, I bought him out on it. He is, however, still going to help with the build. I've purchased a small handful of parts for the car already. Seat, aluminum steering wheel, steering disconnect, rivits and a rivit gun, hood pins, and a velocity stack. I also lightened the hood:

I got a little more done last night. Mostly body filler work. I filled in the "ring" that will hold the stack in position. I also added filler to the corners because my mold did not have any provisions for corners. One more round of body filler and a shit-load of sanding and this thing will be ready for mounting brackets and primer. I should be able to finish it on Monday after I get back from Kentucky.

Looking good Paul. How much did the hood supports weigh?

Looking good Paul. How much did the hood supports weigh? Thanks, man. The removed material in the picture probably only weighed about 5 lbs. But the hood is surprisingly pretty sturdy and strong without all that bracing. If I wanted to get crazy, I could probably remove another 5 lbs from the hood, bit I'm not going to press my luck.

Seems like everyone is going after the 14b title lately. I wish I had the time, money, and know-how to do the kinds of things i"m sure you'll get done with this car Paul. Doesn't look like my 14b lightweight will make it out this year (2 years in a row now). Keep up the good work and I can't wait to see what this thing does!
