I got all your passes on tape Aaron I'm gonna try to make like a DVD of the footage that I got. It was an awsome experience although I look like a lobster today. It was great meeting all of you, don't quite remember many names but still awsome!

Had a blast as always. Aaron, congrats on your runs. You should feel really good about your runs, and you got into the 11's..powered by a Megasquirt Maybe that will turn a few more heads hehe.. This year i was a bit more absent, spending more time with my 2gnt buddies who i kind of left out last year. It was good to see them again and have many, many laughs. Great weather, great racing. It was a bit depressing about the fatal 2g accident though. The moment of silence at the track was touching. One of the girls with 2gnt was from Maryland, and knew everyone involved..she was pretty upset, to say the least. Man, I really want to build up the Laser though..wish i had the time and money to do it ;D

It was great to see everyone, and to put some faces with screen names. I didn't get to spend much time with the wmdsm guys (and girls), but i'll try to get out more often.
Thanks for carting my ass out there Matt. All in all it was a pretty awesome shootout weekend!

Amazing accomplishment aaron! I didn't hit 11's until I dropped a 35r in.
I have a couple of your runs recorded, including your best run. I'll try to post them up.
My car was having several major issues, yet it was still much faster than all the other cars in the eliminator class. I had it in the bag and blew it. I was cutting consistent .1 reaction times too on pro tree. Semi-finals run, top of first gear, the ring/pinion exploded. Placed 3rd out of 16.
They gave out cash, tshirts, and plaques for 1st thru third places.
I was a bit disappointed. I'm at the point with the car I need to drop a 9" solid rear in there just to (hopefully) keep the car from breaking every event.

Brian hows is your rear suspension setup? Paul and I were discussing this on the ride home. We believe Marco from Magnus still runs a stock rear end in his car, yet he doesn't break it, and runs 8's.

D2 coilovers, prothane bushings. I didn't try the higher rate spring in the back, no time for test and tune prior to the shootout. TRE took his time getting my last diff back to me, 4 weeks to set up the pinion backlash.
The car doesn't look like its squatting much so I don't know if the springs would have helped. The main problem is the stock ring/pinion can only handle so much at low speeds. As the speed increases, your making contact with more teeth in the same amount of time. So less HP per tooth contact at higher speeds. I had the hand held boost switch set to 20psi in first, then let off the switch and it went up to 33psi. It worked great. Unfortunately, I *think* my thumb slipped off the switch lever on the last launch. The vht was on thick for that run too.
I can do the back-half with ford 9" in the back. It will eliminate any breakage for sure back there. The only thing I'll have to worry about are front axles and shep tcase at that point. But, it will push me into the outlaw and quick 16 etc classes at all the events. It's a tough decision right now. But I can't justify spending $500 every weekend at the track. Its not fun coming home every time broken. Used diff's are getting hard to find too.

Welcome to the site, Brian.
Marco suggests securing the pinion flange with a couple tubes and a few heims. He said the rearend will hold toether much better when secured in that fashion. It would be worth a try.

I had a good time talking with ya down at the staging lanes, and it was cool to see you make it all the way to 3rd. if your car was running as good as it was the last time i saw it (10 flat), you would have owned that class. Sorry to hear it broke, hopefullly you get it back together soon.

That is interesting... I did notice alot of shaking in the back before it broke, so that could be it.
My car weighs alot more 3050# vs 2650# for shep, and I'm sure marco much less than that even.
The other possibility is a dana 44 rear diff. Only concern there is the level 5 axles could become a weakness. I've also seen some break on a rwd car with 400hp. It would be an expensive experiment if it didn't hold up.

Welcome to the site Brian. Congrats on 3rd, that class can get very competitive. What size slicks are you running? And you are running a dog box right?

dogbox, yes. They're alot easier to daily drive than you think (once you get the hang of it)
hoosier QTP 26x9.5x15. Cured my previous wheel hop issues.
