Ok so this may be a bit difficult to transfer over from another site so sorry if its a little confusing at times. This is a project log of my 94 Talon from when I first got it to now. It all starts with a 1994 Eagle Talon TSi AWD that I picked up on November 1st 2003. I purchased it with only suspension mods done to it. Had Eibach Pro kit springs on it and KYB AGX shocks. Also came with the Konig rims shown in the pics. Anyways I know people like to see pics instead of reading, so my story will be in pics with minimal reading. Money talks!!! Cash to buy the Car I've always wanted.. Here is the car and me in glory when i first picked her up! Title in hand.. The motor was completely stock.....just waiting to be modded. Time to start the addiction! First mod done to the car was helping it breathe. DejonTool upper intake pipe with 3" GM MAS and Translator. This brought a nice spool for the small 14b that was still on the car. Also went with the Ricy RFL BOV...man what was i thinking I then put on my 3" Buschur Racing Exhaust that I bought from the guy I got the car from...boy did this set up just love to boost creep! Can't get the power without a Boost Controller....on goes the Hallman Pro!!! Starting to get a little bored of the small stock turbo I finally steped up to an Evo III Turbo and o2 Housing. HEHE the real Fun starts now. With all the new found power it took a toll on the old ACT 2600 that was in the car when i bought it. So a buddy of mine hooked me up on a South Bend DXD Clutch for cheap! Drove the car around for a while like that, then noticed a big crack in the stock 1g exhaust manifold...so I bought a SBR Cast Manifold (very nice peice). Stock sidemount was just heat soaking far to quick...On comes the good ole Supra Side Mount IC. Good for around 400 hp....perfect for what i was going for.

I needed to modify some of my pipes in order for this to work how i wanted it too. Upper pipe was rewelded, and the lower pipe was completely new. That was a bad ass lower pipe! Time for fuel! So i can really up the boost on the Evo III. RC 550cc Injectors were put in. Also an Aeromotive FPR was installed (dont have pics being installed) All of the above mods worked very well with each other netting me a very respectable time slip. I ran a 12.47 @ 109 mph. I was happy with it. I daily drove the car for a while then the trans finally went on me. I lost 2nd gear(syncros were toast) so i drove 1st to 3rd for a while. Then all the sudden 5th kept popping out on me while crusing. UGH! Finally I went to back out of my driveway and I lost reverse too. Now its time to get a little more serious.... Comp Cams 200's were needed with the new turbo I was going to get. These 2.0's run out of steam quickly with stock cams. Of course we cant forget about the trans. I went big on this one, Shepherd Racing Stage 3 Transmission. Best trans ever!!! He even put my name on it... I dont have a picture of the PTE 880cc injectors but I also put them in with the Keydiver Chip shown here. Nice chip to compensate for larger injectors. The bigger injectors were put in to fuel this bad boy! A PTE SCM 50 Trim turbo. Yum Also put in the SBR Race Front Mount Kit. HUGE!!!!! This thing will cool anything you put to it.

The car loved that new set up....except for one thing, the internal wastegate on the turbo was just not working. Always crept even with the amount of porting i did to it. So I went external! Had to set up the exhaust housing for the external...time to hog it out. hehe Welded the hole up from the waste gate flapper shaft and now its all ready! Tial 38mm External Wastegate in Black for sexyness! Only one way to put it on, Victory Performance SS o2 Housing External Dump. LOUD!!!! Time to stop messing with the chip and Maf-t and tune with something nice. DSMlink was installed. While the dsmlink was being installed I felt like checking the fuel pump, to make sure it was a walbro 255. Well I go to pull it and what do I see, a stock fuel pump!!! I've been running on stock fuel pump for that hole time!!!! Walbro 255hp goes in!! Stepping up to a nice BOV finally....something that will last and not leak like the shitty stocker ones do. Tial 50mm BOV also in black for some more sexyness! Now the car has sat in this stage for a little while now. I beat my best Time and MPH with a 12.21 @ 116 with that set up. Knowing it could make more power I decided on getting a Sheet Metal Intake Manifold. A call up to JM Fabrication helped feed that decission. This lowered everything on the upper ic piping, so I had to modify the Throttle Body Elbow. API did that for me. I then took the car out for some testing with the new Intake Manifold. Took her out on the e-way and did some good pulls. Felt really strong untill I started to hear the noise. I came back home with the Talon knocking like crazy...I believe I had spun a balance shaft bearing prior to this outing. This just made it much worse. I miss shifted the car the last time at the track and netted 9,868 rpm, which in turn the balance shafts seen 19,736 rpm (they spin 2x the motor rpm). So its easy to believe they are toast. I have more updates on this, but I'm doing this at work and its hard to find the time to post all these pics. Ill be updating these as I get time.

As of right now this is how the car sits. Cylinder Head, Intake Manifold, Exhaust manifold, IC Piping, and all the hoses, electrical sensors are all off. I now just need to take the axels out and then the motor and trans will come out. Started with the motor in the car. Everything had been taken apart already, so nothing was connected to the motor at all. Cylinder head was taken off too. The only thing that was still connected to the motor was the trans and the axles. Motor finally comes out! It was a pain in the ass to get it out because the axles would not come out of the damn trans/hubs. Dont ask how i got them out. Trans seperated from the Motor. Getting ready to take a look at the 2.5 year old Clutch. I knew the clutch was starting to give, so i expected to see this. Ouch! Motor on the engine stand. Time to clean this mess out. And this is how it sits now. Now I get to have fun tearing it apart to find out what really happened.

Update - 11/28/06 So I finally got to tear apart the engine to find out what truely happened in there. Fisrt to come off was the oil pan. What a nice suprise in there. Tons of bearing material floating around in the oil that didnt drain. Even a couple good sized chunks! Yikes. After taking off alot of the front end stuff I pulled the pistons out. They looked fine, but the bearing on the #2 rod was HIT!!!! You can see the discolorment in it from this pic. Here is more of a close up on the rod bearing. After the pistons were out I made my way over to the crank. Look at the wear on the thrust bearing.... Heres a pretty clear view of the thrust bearing along with the #2 rod bearing journal This is pretty much what i ended up with after just a few hours of tear down. And a view of my workspace...kinda cluttered. I guess that the balance shaft bearings were ok. I thought my mis shift took them out. Looks like the Rod and Thrust Bearings took the abuse. Well time to build my other motor now.

I ended up painting the block cast iron. Wanted something that didn't stand out but looked original. I have lots of pics. So I will be uploading then and putting them on here for a few.

Back to the build. Put the ACL Race bearings in the main caps and checked their clearance to the Mains on the crank. Everything checked out good here. I really don't remember the clearance of them but it was in spec. It's a shame its been so long. Once I knew we were good on the bearings I followed Kigglys Bearing method on Grooving the Bearings. This allows more oil to pass across the bearing surface. This will help fight off overheating of the mains if I really decide to up the RPM limit.

Getting the pistons and rods ready for assembly. Putting together the Pistons and Rods. Also checking Rod bearing clearance against the Crank. Back to the build. Test fitting the crank with a Rod and Piston on it. This was done to see how much clearance I would have for my 1g oil squirters. Come to find out with the Wiseco Pistons the 1g Squirters would have to be bent a lot! I was afraid that I could pinch one if I bent it to much. So I sourced out some EVO Squirters. These offered me much more room to play with and only needed very little bending to clear everything! Here is the EVO Squirter as they come bent from the factory. You can see its just barely hitting the inside of the piston skirt. Here it is after a slight bend, nothing that was going to pinch it at all.

Thanks Man! Threads like this always do that same for me too! I forgot to add that with the Kiggly Girdle you do have to shave some of the block to get it to fit right. Here are some pics of where I needed to take some block material off. Both these areas are on the bell housing side of the block. On both sides as shown here.

With the H Beam Eagle rods you will have clearance issues with the Main Cap Girdle. You will need to grind down the girdle for the rod to clear when the crank turns. Like this. I did this with just a cut off wheel and a good ole die grinder. Also in the block there is a casting web that needed to be ground down. I think it was the #3 rod that would hit the block. I ground this down with a bit on my die grinder. Clears all good now.

Bam! Rotating Assembly all buttoned up. I still need to chase the threads for the head studs.

Getting the front cover ready to put on. Installed the oil pump gears and the castle plug. When I went to put this thing on, there was a little issue. The Main Cap Girdle was in the way of one of the oil pump bolts. You can see where it was hitting here. That caused the whole front cover to not sit correctly. It had about an 1/8 inch gap. I just ended up taking a file to the Girdle and it all fit! Also installed the water pump.
