I guess I never did report back after the last few track sessions. They were not anything to write home about to say the least, yet I still managed to type a novel (Cliff notes at bottom)
Basically, the first time we went to the track we worked some some tuning issues, but I got caught up playing with the launch control and no lift to shift, and over rev'd 1st gear causing a huge backfire that jolted the whole car. It was so loud and harsh that I thought I broke something, and stopped the car right on the track. The track crew pushed me backwards off the track and after looking everything over, it seemed like nothing was damaged. After that we decided to just drive it home while it was still in one piece. Most the night I was only around 112-114 MPH, but we never really got any good logs or made any adjustments.
Then after I got back from vacation, we went up to 131 for a midnight madness, and started to make a few adjustments that did net me a little better 1/8 mile time and MPH. With launch control I even cut a 1.81 60' which for me is pretty good. But on that run I hit the 1-2 good, the 2-3 good, but didn't quite hit 4th gear right, and miss shifted pretty hard. I then put it back into 4th and finished out the run. Ended up being a 12.7 at 104, So could have easily been a lower 12 second run which was better then the few earlier passes.
But as I started to slow down, I downshifted into what I thought was 3rd gear, but the RPM's didn't change pitch. I slowed down even more to round the corner, and shifted into 2nd, and almost killed the motor. The damn thing was still in 4th gear. So I came to a stop, put it in neutral.. let the clutch out and the car died. WTF?
Pushed the clutch in, put it in 1st, let the clutch out.. car dies. luckily I was off the track and out of the way of other cars at this point, because my car was no longer moving.. at all. With the car off I ran through the gears to find out that 1/2 and 5/R felt kinda normal, but 3/4 felt like it was not even there. No matter if the car was in "neutral" or with the clutch in, it would not move forward or backwards. The car was totally locked up.
To make a long story short, We are pretty sure we broke the 3/4 shift fork. I had to have the car towed home, which was a total disaster because of a retarded towing company. Had to call a second company that I used here in GR, And since it wouldn't roll it was even more difficult. For a few weeks it sat at TJ's in his drive way, and now is hanging out in his garage until we can pull the trans and take it down to TRE. But the trans did end up coming free, and 1st and reverse are working. I was able to drive it into the garage. I'm thinking the jerking around on the tow truck free'd up the gear.
Either way my motivation is at an all time low with this car, and I wouldn't even be disappointed if it drives more then the trip back to my garage for storage. I didn't expect to break the trans since It was just replaced with that used stage 1.5 TRE trans. But it just goes to show that I should have had it inspected before I installed it. I'm going to have Jon at TRE go through this one and hopefully after that I wont have any more issues like this. I completely understand that with all the mods I have done to the car, some reliability gets thrown out the window. But when you break parts that really shouldn't break, it gets discouraging. Especially after we just replaced this last year.
Well that turned out to be way more typing then I expected, so if you actually read it all enjoy the story.
Cliff Notes - My car was not as fast as we had hoped for with the new turbo. - A lot more tuning needs to be done to reach full potential - I broke my transmission again - I have yet to remove said broken transmission - I have very low motivation to get it back on the road - TJ is awesome and I'm glad its at his house.. lol

Sucks to hear you're having tranny issues again, man. Maybe time for an A/T swap?

No, It and I wont be coming to the shootout. I was considering just driving the Outback down for the shootout, but money is tight and now that I have to have the trans fixed again, I have decided not to go at all. Sucks as I was really looking forward to bringing the car down this year, but it has once again decided to break.
I believe an Auto has its place, but I do love driving a manual. That's why my DD has a 5 speed now too.
