I'm looking forward to seeing this at the Shootout. Glad to hear your liking the MS2, I'm loving mine as well.
Gonna have to represent the MS powered cars at the shootout. ;D

Well, i think i may have found the problem to most of my current issues.
after getting the car dyno'd, we discovered it was loosing power at like 5400-5600 rpm, which with 272 cams, is way way low. while on the dyno, someone close to the car heard dave say he thought i was floating the valves, or at least i think thats what he herd. either way, that got me thinking, and today i called HKS.
I asked them if they shoudl be falling off like that, and they said the 272 setup should hold to 8000 with no problem on a fresh motor/setup. i then explained what i thought i herd dave say, and told him i was using stock valve springs. then a light bulb came on.
The guy at HKS recommended new valve springs from BC, Comp, or HKS to fix the falling power up top. He said that stock springs have a hard time with those cams and they should hold hp all the way to redline with out issues.
TJ is going to talk to Dave about my car once i get the dyno graph scanned and if he confirms what i am thinking, then my next project is BC springs and retainers.
:-)

Heres the dyno graph. as you can see my power peeks out at around 5500, and slowly falls.

Thats nuts to hit 11's while hitting numbers that low on the dyno. How ever the setup you have is very similare to what I wanted to go with so,... I envy you, lol.

Well, TJ talked to dave and he doesnt recall saying anything about valve float. He also looked at the dyno graph again and seems to think for the setup it looks about normal.
I do have to take into consideration that i was only on 4 washers instead of the 5 washers i used to shim my wastegate for the actual race. so it was making less boost for the dyno. and 3rd gear never builds the same boost as 4th/5th. so it was only around 26-28psi for that 3rd gear dyno pull.
As of right now i have decided to continue running the setup as is, but i will be ordering 1050 fic injectors and getting my fuel system back where it should be. New fuel filter, new braided lines, new -an fittings, high flow rail, APFR, and larger injectors. fill it up wtih E85 and re tune back to where it was on 110.
Over the winter i still do plan on ordering new dual valve springs and titanium retainers for the setup, but i'm going to wait until after this season to do that.
I also plan on ordering an FP manifold for the current 18g, its cheap and i can resell it for close to the same price when i'm ready for a bigger setup in a year or two's time. hopefully if my budget allows it, i can order that this fall still.
My new goal for the car, either this fall or in the spring is 11.70 around 118-120. and all on completely full interior, in daily driveable fasion.

Wow, its been forever since i updated this. e85 Worked very well last year, even netted me a 12.2 at 116.8. Going to be sticking with that this year.
Spring is approaching quick and i have a few things in mind to finish up my current setup. Money is an issue this year, as it is for most, so its going to be a cheap budget type of year.
I'm still planning on picking up a few things hopefully.. otherwise just redoing things and making them more efficent.
1. FP Race Manifold 2. New Hardware for manifold 3. New Valve springs/retainers (maybe) 4. Random exhaust porting/maching 5. Not purchased, but will be dialing in my cam gears correctly.
I'm sure other things will come up that i need as we go, but thats the small list i have at this time.

Thats a pretty small list man. Im sure you'll make it work for you. Looking for some more consistent 11's this year?

ya, small list indeed. I'm going for as little as possible..
But with that list and some good ideas/tuning we are going to make it as efficient as possible. And ya, my goals this year are consistent 11's around 120mph give or take. I was close last year so it shouldnt take much this year. Alot of that is my driving too.. :-)

Well, Tigger has been pulled.. and i have an FP manifold with some new gaskets being shipped. I also ordred new SS studs/nuts/washers from ssstuds.com
I'll have to get some pics before i turn around and ship the manifold off to swain tech (www.swaintech.com) for its White lightning exhaust coating. That will take 2-3 weeks.. so after that i should have my manifold all installed.
Then its on to finish up the rest of my list. Its going to be a cheap and fun summer.

Well, this week TJ and I finally installed that FP Manifold. I've been slacking in the car department, and just havent been motivated to do anything. I got the manifold back from swain tech and it actually sat in my truck for a few weeks.. lol
Pulled the old stocker off, Painted the new FP with 2000deg VHT in flat black, and installed it along with the SS stud and nut kit. Fit very nice, and looks clean.
And let me say, the car feels alot different. We went tuning a few nights after, and the tune had to be modified a bit for the difference. After a few pulls and TJ working his magic, that thing was screaming. We usally do 3rd gear pulls, but I felt like going fast. Shifted 4th and took it to the top, and it was like a 60-125 pull... it got there really fast. :-)
The other thing about it that i like, is the exhaust tone changed alot, it actually sounds like its flowing more air. I even think I picked up some torque in the process because it builds boost fast and hard. I think we figured out it lost around 2psi on top boost. So hopefully the next time at the track we can get some hard evidence that it did in fact help. But i can already say i'm happy with it.
Not sure what the rest of the year holds for me, I just really want to get it dialed in, and get the driveablity tuning fixed. I am hoping that getting the throttle body gaskets and IAC motor hooked back up will help with some of my issues. I would really like to have a turn key 11 sec car that I can just get into and drive like stock.

I think wednesday the 10th is when i'm going to try and make it out next. I like going wednesdays cause i can actually make a run, make some changes, and then get right back out there.
So ya, Wednesday the 10th. I'm pretty damn excited. After tonights events, i know that cars faster then last year. Hands down.
I managed to not only keep up with, but also started pulling away pretty good from a newer Mustang GT500 with basic mods. Mind you i had 2 extra people in my car as well. Had a car not been in the road in front of me, i would have walked away. And that was started from a 70 roll. lol
Then on my way home, this guy and his wife/gf in what looked like some kinda old convertable corvette or maybe even a cobra, were riding my ass getting on the highway, so when i didn't speed up, he punched it to go around me. So what do i do?? oh you know, hammer down and blow his doors off. He got a full car in front of me when boost hit i just pulled away. His car actually sounded healthy, but who knows.
So I slowed back down to 70, and he got next to me and down shifted. So what did i do.. yup, showed that old man what turbos imports were like. From around a 50 roll, I punched it in 3rd gear (not my best choice) Not only did I let him get the hit, I had lag like a bitch for a few seconds, and then I pulled him back in and flew by him like he was standing still.
I think he had enough at that point, because he and his wife/gf drove by the next time with thumbs up and smiles on there faces.
Great ending to my night. lol
