I think the problem here isn't with the website or the meets, its with the organization of the club: that is
"an association of persons for some common object usually jointly supported and meeting periodically; also : a group identified by some common characteristic. "
Last year was sort of the pilot year, to see how many people would be interested and if it was feasable to have a club that encompasses the whole of West Michigan. This year is time to get organized as a real club. I think its great that we have such a large memberlist on the forums and that there are a wide variety of car owners that attend our events, but we are trying to become a functioning group. Limiting actual membership to dsm owners living in West Michgian only has always been part of the idea of the club, hence the name. The nature of it is exclusive.
With that in mind, we can still leave our main forums open to all and create interest in dsms by allowing others to join us for some meets and events.
I like the idea of having a few area leaders, and I think we should also try to define some other administrative type roles, like treasurer and events coordinator. Maybe we could check out how other large clubs are organized to see what works the best.

tj you know you wont be able to get rid of me even if i do decide to sell the galant. and my car isnt a stereotypical dsm so ha. but no seriously i think the only thing this club really needs is some organization, some dedication from its members when possible, and i dunno, i guess just more club related activities and stuff. i dont see any problem with this being just a dsm club. as long as nobody starts to go all nazi style if somebody doesnt have currently have a dsm. just obvious little things like at meets all the dsms get to park together and stuff etc. i mean after all it is a dsm club
no offense to those that dont have a dsm. especially some of our little kzoo crew

Well since I don't own a DSM anymore, I guess I'm no longer a "real" club member . So be it. I'll be an alumni along with Mike this summer when he sells his. I would still like to be a moderator and area rep with Matt down in Kalamazoo. If anyone has a problem with that, tell me on Tuesday or post in this thread. Any pm's sent to me will be posted in here as well for all to read, I think that's only fair to everyone in the club. I'll let democracy determine all this. Irrelevant of what anyone thinks about all of this, I'm still going to be a part of the kzoo krew and I speak for many of us down here (correct me if I'm wrone please kzoo people) that "we" (kzoo people) are going to still be an open group to anyone that has the same automotive enthusiasm that we all share. If that doesn't sit well with others then I guess we will have to start our own "club" open to anyone that wants to frikin drive their car, wrench on it with others, and hang out frequently.

IMO u are "grandfathered" in so it wont matter to you, ACUALLY I just think we need to get this "started yet" IMO it dont even sound like this has begun thats why I say for the time being we should just focus on dsm/west mi peeps untill we get a good base then we can expand etc.

look its easy to see that there is NO GATHERINGS going on in GR, so we (the GR people) need to get a base of people setup BEFORE we even worry about other cars or other location outside of west michigan.
and I guess u dont understand common knowledge.. being "grand fathered" in means since u were a dsm owner and part of the club at one time means u will always be weather u have a dsm or not

whats the point of having a DSM club if we let any old car in? if you guys want to have a whatever kinda car club start a wmxceedspeed or something. this is WMDSM. its a club based around these types of cars. not these types of cars and all our buddies. i personally have no problem with whoever showing up to meets or registering here but i think the core group and to actually be considered an actual member of the club, you should own a dsm. this isn't ment to offend anyone as its just my thoughts and its not a "your a sellout your not welcome here" kinda thing or whatever. heck, before i read this thread i didn't even know brandon sold his car. i just feel like this club and site was started as a club for dsm owners and their cars and thats how it should stay.
btw, i do enjoy the weekly meets. i'll probably start going again once its nicer out and all. i just hate going out anywhere in the winter and sometimes it gets kinda hard to go working 3rd shift.
